In pasture, located on a low rise in rolling grassland broken by limestone outcropping. There are good views, especially to N where ground falls gently for c. 150m towards an area of lowlying damp ground. Ground rises gradually to S. Recorded by Lavelle (1994, no. 577) as follows ‘In undulating pasture, extending over 4000 sq.m. Banks of earth and stone make up a number of fields, hut sites and possible enclosures.’ A network of subrectangular or irregular-shaped field plots, which range in size from 25m by 35m to 60m by 70m, is outlined by low, grass-covered stone banks. The stone banks most likely represent levelled field walls. They incorporate large stones and boulders in parts. The stone banks tend to meander gently, following the natural contours of the local undulating terrain. Traces of cultivation ridges, on various orientations, can be seen within the field plots, and the area is dotted with small, low grass-covered field clearance heaps. The remains are now enclosed within an irregular-shaped modern-day field (c. 240m NW−SE; c. 145m NE−SW), which is bordered by a drystone wall. The old field plots on the margins are fragmentary, indicating that the field system originally extended beyond its current confines, but there is no visible trace of it now in the surrounding modern fields. A possible house (MA118-137001-) is enclosed within one field plot, and there is a ringfort (MA118-137003-) at the NW edge of the field system. In pasture, located on a small terrace, with a fall of ground to N and E, within a field system (MA118-137001-). There is a ringfort (MA118-137003-) 50m to NW Roughly square, sunken area (6m N−S; 5.5m E−W; D 0.5m) defined by an inward-facing scarp. The S and W sides retain remnants of stone facing/walling, which protrudes randomly from the sod. In addition, a number of large upright stones and large boulders are set against or in front of the scarp along the S side. The largest upright (L 1m; H 0.95m; T 0.3m) is at the E end of the S side. Immediately to W of this, there is a large irregular-shaped boulder (max. dim. 1.5m E-W), which appears to be placed in front of the scarp, rather than set into it. At the SW corner there is another large upright slab (L 0.9m; H 0.6m; T 0.3m). It is not clear whether these large stones were part of the original structure or are field clearance boulders placed there subsequently. The scarp on the N and E sides is gently slumped and grass-covered, and is particularly low and poorly defined at E. The interior is flat and grass-covered, with a surface scatter of loose stones. In pasture, located on a low rise in rolling grassland broken by limestone outcropping. There are good views, especially to N where ground falls gently for c. 150m towards an area of lowlying damp ground. Ground rises gradually to S. This possible cashel is not shown on any edition of the OS 6-inch maps. It has been partly levelled and the remains are very low profile at ground level. Subcircular area (39m E−W; c. 40m N−S) defined by a low grass-covered undulation (Wth 3-4m), representing a levelled bank or wall. It is best defined on the W arc where the external slope is enhanced by a natural fall of ground. The bank/wall has been entirely levelled at NNW−ENE, but the outline of a slight rise is still evident. A few large stones protrude randomly from the bank at E and S. The interior slopes down gently from E of centre to the perimeter at NE−SE. There are two low, sod-covered heap of stones (diam. c. 3m; H 0.25m), most likely field clearance cairns, in the S half. A NW-SE drystone field wall crosses the NE edge of the ringfort. Levelled remnants of field walls abut the ringfort at E, SW and W, part of a field system (MA118-137001-), which extends to SE and S. There is a possible house (MA118-137002-) 50m to SE.
