Situated on a rise at the W edge of a broad plateau. An oval or subrectangular embanked enclosure (ext. dims c. 40m E-W; c. 25m N-S) is depicted only on the 1836 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘Fort’, and it is depicted as a D-shaped hachured feature, the perimeter of which is truncated by an ENE-WSW field bank at N, and it is absent N-E on the 1908 ed. Traces of a circular grass-covered area (diam. 34.5m NW-SE) defined by a low scarp were visible in 1968. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) is depicted on the 1836 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘Fort’ and as a hachured feature on the 1908 edition, but its perimeter is absent S-W. It was removed c. 1964, but slight traces of a raised circular and grass-covered area (diam. c. 34m) were evident in 1968. Situated on top of a short NW-SE ridge. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered mound (diam. of base 30.5m NW-SE; diam. of top 9m NW-SE; H 5m at NE to 6.6m at NW) surrounded by fosse, best preserved at NW (Wth of top 9m; Wth of base 5.5m; ext. D 1.6m) and slighter at SE (ext. D 0.4m) but absent at SW. There are indications of a subrectangular bailey, defined by a low scarp (Wth 2m; H 0.2m), c. 40m SE of the motte. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 59m WNW-ESE; 32m NNE-SSW) defined by a slight scarp.
