Situated on a slight ridge overlooking Croboy Lough which is c. 250m to the WNW. This is a slightly raised circular and grass-covered area (diam. 37m N-S; 36m E-W) sloping down to the NE defined by a scarp (max. H 1.2m at SW) that melds into the ground N-NE. There is no visible fosse, but the entrance may be a dip in the perimeter (Wth 4m) at NE. The cropmark can be seen on aerial images (OSAP 2017) and on Google Earth (06/06/2018). Situated at the E end of a broad E-W ridge in a gently undulating landscape. This is a gently rounded, steep-sided mound (diam. of base 18.5m WNW-ESE; diam. of top 5.5m NE-SW; 5m NW-SE; H 4.6m) planted with some trees. Located at the crest of a SE-facing slope. There are no ecclesiastical associations with this burial ground in Clonard parish. It is marked faintly as a circular area (diam. c. 30m) with bushes described as a ‘Grave Yard’ on the 1836 ed. of the OS 6-inch map where it incorporates the boundary of a small detached portion (c. 0.75 acres) of Ballasport townland on the W side. It is marked similarly on the 1910 ed. of the map. This is a D-shaped area (dims c. 28m NW-SE; c. 23m NE-SW) defined by masonry walls.
