This is a raised subcircular and overgrown area (dims 29m E-W; 22.2m N-S) defined by a slight earth and stone bank (at WNW: Wth of base 3m; H 0.6m) SW-N at the top of a scarp (H 1.8-2.3m). At the base of the scarp is a fosse (at WNW: Wth of base 5m; ext. D 2.5m) and an outer earth and stone bank (at WNW: Wth 3m; ext. H 0.5m), but both are reduced to a berm (at ESE: Wth 4m) and outer scarp (at ESE: H 1m) or the natural slope over most of the circumference. The poorly-defined entrance (Wth of base 4m) and causeway (Wth of top 2m; H 0.4m) are at NE. It is not depicted as an antiquity on any map, but a souterrain (ME009-038002-) has been exposed at its NNE edge since the nineteenth century when bone was said to have been present (Rotheram 1893, 309). This is a grass-covered subcircular or D-shaped area (dims 20m NNW-SSE; 16m ENE-WSW) defined by a scarp (max. H 1.5m at NE) NNW-SE, but it is truncated by a NE-SW road wall at S and a NNW-SSE field wall at S. Situated on a rise in an undulating landscape, and it is open on the scarp of rath (ME009-038001-) at NNE. The modern opening enters a collapsed circular chamber (diam. 1.7m; max. H 1m) with corbelling walls closed by a single slab. A passage (Wth 0.7m) extends SW (L 1.2m) before it is blocked by collapse. A narrow entrance (Wth 0.7m) at N leads from the chamber to another passage (L 3.8m; Wth 1.6m; max. H 1.4m), roofed with four lintels. This passage extends NW before turning W (Wth 1.1m; L 1.7m) to what was probably the original entrance.
