Located towards the SE end of a NW-SE ridge. This is a raised circular and grass-covered platform (diam. 28.5m N-S; 25m E-W; H 2.8-3.6m) that slopes down to the S (H 1.2m) separated by a fosse (at NNW: Wth of top 13.5m; Wth of base 2.5m; ext. D 3m) that survives W-N-S from an overgrown outer bank (at NNW: Wth of base 7.7m; ext. H 1.6m) that is only evident NNW-E and it is incorporated in a NE-SW field bank NW-NNW. There is a ramp entrance (Wth of base 2.5m) at SSE. The SW quadrant has been quarried in the past and the edge of the platform together with the fosse and outer bank are missing here. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 3 September 2018 Amended: 14 December 2022 - ME003-027: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CME003-027----. Situated on the flat top (diam. c. 45m) of a hill. Archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping in connection with a gas pipe-line during 1991 identified a curving fosse (Wth 0.5-0.9m; D 0.2-0.9m) that was sampled (E000636) in three places but produced nothing apart from charcoal-flecked soil. A large pit (diam. 2.3m; D 0.9m) filled with boulders and charcoal-flecked soil produced some pig and sheep bones and a sherd of coarse pottery. A smaller pit (L 1. 7m; D 0.2m) produced three similar sherds, thought to be souterrain ware. A few other pits produced no artefacts apart from flecks of charcoal, but the features can be interpreted as the remains of a rath. Situated in a little W-E valley with a small canalised NW-SE stream turning E c. 40m to the S. This is a large granite stone (dims of base 0.9m x 0.9m) that widens (dims 1.6m NW-SE; 1.2m NE-SW) c. 1-2m over the ground before coming to a blunt point (H 2.6m). It is roughly oriented NW-SE. Archaeological testing (06E1072) by C. Cotter c. 15m to the SW at the closest point produced no related material (excavations.ie 2006:1550).
