Located towards the top of the W-facing slope of a hill and just above its steepest point. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 37m NE-SW; 34m NW-SE) that slopes down to the W defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at NE: Wth of base 5.6m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 2.2m) N-E-SW that is reduced to a scarp (at NW: Wth 5m; H 2.7m) elsewhere. There is an outer fosse (Wth of top 7-10m; Wth of base 3m; ext. D 1.5m) and an outer bank (at SE: Wth of base 4.1m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 0.5m) NE-E-SW, with traces of the fosse elsewhere. The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 1.7m) and outer (Wth of base 1.8m) banks with a causeway (Wth of top 3m; H 0.7m) is at SSW. Located on top of a broad hill. It is represented as a D-shaped feature on the NW side of a NE-SW field bank on the 1836 and 1908 editions of the OS 6-inch map. This is a raised D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 29m NE-SW; 20m NW-SE) with some bushes defined by a slight bank (at NE: Wth of base 7m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.6m) that is largely reduced to a scarp (at SW: Wth 2.5m; H 0.8m), with an external fosse (Wth of top 5m; ext. D 0.5m) NW-NE. A NE-SW field bank truncates the monument towards the perimeter at SE and it does not survive visibly beyond it. The original entrance is not visible so it may have been at SE. The grass-covered foundations of a rectangular house (max. dims 7.5m NE-SW; 4.8m NW-SE) defined by a spread of stone (Wth 1.3m; max. H 1m) are near the edge at NW. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
