According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) of Stamullin parish 390 acres at Tullocke were owned by Lord Gormonstowne and on the land was a farm house and a corn mill (Simington 1940, 11). The millpond of the ‘old mill of Tullock’ is described as part of the bounds of land at Reynoldstown, Co. Dublin in the same survey of Co. Dublin (Simington 1945, 34). A description of the manor of Naul from the Gormanston papers (MS 44,346/5-8) in 1633 included two mills, a watermill to grind corn and a tuck mill (Tiernan 2008, 17). The mill is depicted on Dunca’s mp of 1821, and a functioning building is annotated as a Flour Mill on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map. The mill appears to have been still functioning on the 1906 edition and it is now a private residence. The mills have been researched by Brendan Matthews and Ian Lennon. Located on a NE-facing slope. The head of a window from the church of Tullog (ME034-013----) is now built into the head of a well that was not marked on the 1836 ed. of the OS 6-inch map but was probably present then to serve the village of Tullug. The stone (Wth 0.68; H 0.35m; T 0.15m) has the stepped head of a rectangular window (Wth 0.42m; H 0.22m) with chamfered edges. The centre of the head is raised or stepped upwards (Wth 0.18m; H 7.5cm), and a glazing groove and bar-holes are present. The well is U-shaped (dims 0.7m NW-SE; 0.57m NE-SW) and built into a NE-facing slope with the opening facing NE in a wall (H 0.7m). Road bridge aligned NW-SE traversing the Delvin River flowing from S to N which forms the county boundary between Dublin and Meath, connecting the townland of Coolfores with Tullog, Co. Meath. The river at this location also forms the parish boundary between the parish of Stamullin, Co. Meath and the parish of Naul, Co. Dublin. Tullog (Tullock) flour mill which stood on the site of an earlier corn and tuck mill (ME034-008-) from which the bridge was named, immediately W of the bridge. The ‘old mill of Tullock’ was described as forming part of the N boundary of the townland of Reynoldstown (Simington 1945, 34). Present single-arched (Wth 4.9m x H 1.7m) road bridge described by the NIAH as; ‘Single-arch rubble stone road bridge, c.1850’ (NIAH Reg. No. 11303001). This 19th-century stone bridge may have been built on the site of an earlier bridge contemporaneous with the medieval mill of Tullog. The ‘Old Mill’ of Tullog and the road traversing the Delvin River is depicted on Rocque’s 1760 Map of County Dublin. The Historic Road Bridges Survey commissioned in 2008 by Fingal County Council described this bridge as a; ‘Single segmental-arched, stone-built road bridge over Delvin river on Fingal/Meath border beside old mill building which has been converted to residential use. Punched ashlar limestone voussoirs with roughly coursed rubble stone spandrels and parapets with some remains of lime render to south east corner. Some corbel detail beneath vegetation on parapet at this corner which may have supported further parapet detail but close examination not possible. Dry stone-built south west bank abutting bridge. Coping either not extant or not visible due to excessive vegetation. This well-constructed stone bridge appears early-mid nineteenth century in date based simply on its good condition (despite damaged parapet wall tops), although it may be earlier or be a replacement for a previous structure on the site as the mill here is older. Located on a very quiet road with relatively little traffic using it, it is a structure of local significance with historic interest.’ (Cronin et. al. 2008, Bridge No. 2, 19-27). Cross-referenced with DU004-104---- Compiled by: Caimin O’Brien based on details provided by the 2008 Historic Road Bridges, Fingal County Council.
