Located at the crest of the N-facing slope of a drumlin. It was described in 1967 (SMR file) as a circular grass-covered area (diam. 37.8m N-S) that sloped down to the N (H 1.4m), which was defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 7.4m; Wth of top 1.8m; int. H 1.6m; ext. H 1.2m) and hedge, with traces of a fosse (at SW: Wth of base 1.8m; ext. D 0.45m) S-W. The perimeter was reduced to a scarp (at N: Wth 3.4m; H 1m) NW-NE on the downslope side. There was a modern entrance at SSW, but the original entrance was not identified. The interior was bisected by a NE-SW field bank. The rath had been removed by 1995 (OSI images) but miraculously, the dividing field bank survived. Rath (MO031-085----) is c. 70m to the SE. ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage)

- Farm house, 1855–1860, Regional interest, registry number 41403107, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=MO&regno=41403107. Detached two-storey farmhouse, dated 1858, having five-bay ground floor and four-bay first floor, gabled porch to front (north) elevation, two-bay two-storey return to rear with lean-to roof, and canted bay window with hipped slate roof to west gable. Outbuildings to yard to rear. Pitched slate roof, with cast-iron rainwater goods, paired red brick chimneystacks, and having decorative timber bargeboards to roof of porch. Roughcast rendered walls having smooth rusticated quoins, and with date plaque to porch. Square-headed window openings having smooth render surrounds and label-mouldings, one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows, tripartite to ground floor of front elevation with moulded mullions. Timber casement windows to side elevations, including bay window. Square-headed door opening to west side of porch having recent timber door with over-light. Outbuildings having pitched corrugated-iron roofs, lime-washed rubble stone walls, and square-headed openings with remains of timber fittings. Set back from road with wrought-iron pedestrian entrance gate and hedge to roadside boundary. Wrought-iron field gate to north-east serving rear yard and outbuildings. Cast-iron water pump opposite pedestrian entrance.
