Situated at the summit of Carn Hill: It is depicted as an antiquity and described as the site of a ‘Carn’ only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This was described in 1968 as a D-shaped and slightly raised, stony and grass-covered area (dims 21.5m N-S; 14.5m E-W) defined by a scarp (Wth 0.5m; H 0.45m). It was cut by a NNW-SSE field wall at W, and there was no evidence of it on the W side of the wall. Even the portion E of the wall had been removed by 1983. Situated on a local height in an undulating landscape. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 45m) is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’, and it is represented as a curve of field bank (Chord c. 40m) SW-NW on the 1907 edition. The curving field bank is extant SW-NW but no archaeological feature is visible at ground level in pasture.
