- MO029-009001: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CMO029-009001-. Located on a low rise in a low-lying undulating landscape. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dim. 30m E-W; 26m N-S) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth 4-5m; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 1.2-1.4m) and hedge, which was incorporated into a field bank with external stone facing NW-NNE. There is no visible fosse, and the entrance (Wth of base 2.5m) is at ENE where some rock outcrop is exposed. There is a local tradition of a cave in the interior, which may be a souterrain. Situated on a rise on a gentle S-facing slope. This is an oval or D-shaped and grass-covered platform (dims 34.6m NW-SE; 25.8m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (at SE: Wth 2m; H 0.8m; at NW: Wth 2.6m; H 1.6m) with some bushes on the perimeter ESE-S-NW, which is cut by a NW-SE road bank at NE. There is no visible fosse or entrance, but slight traces of the inner edge of a bank are intermittently visible. Situated on a rise on a gentle S-facing slope. This is a raised subcircular platform (dims 25m N-S c. 22m E-W) with rock outcrop rising at the W edge defined by an earthen bank (at E: Wth of base 5.6m; Wth of top 1.4m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.4m) ENE-S that is incorporated into a field bank and hedge NNW-ENE and largely reduced to a scarp (at W: Wth 3.4m; H 1.8m) elsewhere. A farm laneway skirts the perimeter WNW-NNW. There is no visible fosse and a ramp rises obliquely up the scarp at ESE. A sunken rectangular area (dims 3.3m x 3.1m; D 0.3m at S) inside the perimeter at S is probably an old quarry. Situated on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape with a small NE-SW stream just to the E. A souterrain passage became partly visible in September 1970. It consisted of an inaccessible passage extending NE and turning N where it was blocked by collapse. The passage walls were composed of small stones and they corbelled in under lintels.
