Located in Lisnakillewbane Lough, a subrectangular lake (max. dims c. 670m E-W; c. 350m N-S). A oval island (dims c. 25m E-W; c. 10m N-S) is represented on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map at a point where a channel (L c. 250m) connects this lake with the SE part of Bawn Lough to the W. It is now a wooded area attached to the S bank of the channel, which it was impossible to inspect and the feature might be a sandbar. Located in a marshy bog at the NE end of Lough Avattan, originally a sub-triangular lake (dims c. 400m NE-SW; c. 260m NW-SE at SW; c. 100m NW-SE at NE) now reduced to an oval area (dims c. 380m NE-SW; c. 160m NW-SE) of open water. A small island (diam. c. 5m) is depicted only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map at a point close to where a stream exits the lake at NE.
