Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1880, with canted bay windows to end bays under same continuous hipped roof incorporating entrance to centre. Full-height two-storey addition to rear, single-storey outbuilding to north-east corner and detached outbuilding to north. Pitched slate roof to house with black clay tile ridge, polychromatic brick chimneystacks having dog-tooth brick detailing beneath over-sailing caps, overhanging eaves and verges with replacement uPVC fascia and replacement metal rainwater goods. Hipped slate roof to ground floor front elevation over bay windows and entrance, with moulded yellow brick cornice held on heavy timber beam which spans space between bay windows and has cast-iron columns supporting it either side of doorway. Flemish-bonded red brick walls exposed to front, south-west, façade with cut sandstone plinth, and ruled-and-lined smooth cement render to sides and rear. Segmental-headed window openings to first floor front, and square-headed openings elsewhere, all having stone sills and replacement uPVC windows. Square-headed, four-panelled timber door in painted smooth-render surround with overlight, surmounted by moulded render cornice held by scrolled and leaf-decorated consoles on pilasters. Three-bay single-storey outbuilding to north of house having two-storey middle bay, hipped slate roof and smooth rendered walls, with segmental-headed doorways and pitching door, latter to first floor of middle bay, with square-headed timber battened doors, and central square-headed double-leaf metal vehicular door. Cast-iron ogee-profile gutters held on carved paired stone corbels at eaves, and cast-iron downpipes. Quarry-faced ashlar limestone walls with dressed stone window surrounds and projecting quarry-faced plinth. Exposed upper part of rear south-east gable end is roughcast rendered with stone quoins and original rear extension visible here on O.S.25" map may have been replaced or incorporated within modern extension. Round-headed window openings with square-headed two-over-two pane timber sliding sash frames with convex horns and fanlights and flush sloped cut-stone sills. Oculus to upper gable-front with timber trefoil window. Slightly projecting cut-stone surround to round-headed doorway having double-leaf replacement timber panelled square-headed doors, with carved lettering to cut-stone panel to over-door reading: 'The Murdock Memorial Hall 1881'. Replacement lantern over doorway. Three-bay single-storey gate lodge to grounds, built c.1890, having dormer floor, and recently added gabled porch, single-storey gabled extension to rear and single-storey lean-to extension to south-east, house having pitched slate roof with rolled terracotta ridge, decoratively carved timber bargeboards to gables with remains of timber finial and pendant, polychrome brick chimneystack, and replacement metal rainwater goods on brick course, English garden wall-bonded walling with yellow brick to quoins, and with replacement uPVC windows with painted stone sills. Round-roofed outhouse to east and gravel-surfaced car park to north-east. Both buildings share site of Presbyterian church and graveyard enclosed within recently rebuilt stone and cement boundary wall at Ballyalbany cross roads and north-west river bank of Blackwater. Boundary wall contains carved stone plaque salvaged from original wall here which reads: 'BALLYALBANY SCHOOL 1834'. - Ballyalbany Presbyterian Church, church/chapel, 1785–1890, Regional interest, registry number 41302005, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=MO®no=41302005. Freestanding four-bay Presbyterian church, built 1788, and remodelled 1846 and 1886, having recessed single-bay gabled blocks to each end, that to north having gabled porch to west elevation. Pitched slate roofs with cut-stone copings and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with render quoins and plinth. Pointed-arch window openings with chamfered painted surrounds and having Y-tracery timber windows with stained glass. Short pointed window to upper north gable with plain glass. Pointed doorway to porch with chamfered painted surround and double-leaf timber battened door with decorative strap hinges. Square-headed doorway to south end having chamfered surround and replacement timber battened door. Interior has gallery over north end with carved front supported on cast-iron columns. Carved timber pews, smooth plastered ceiling, carved timber pulpit, baptismal font, table and organ to south end, and timber wainscoting to lower parts of walls. Stairs to gallery partly supported on decorative cast-iron brackets, and newel post is decoratively carved.
