H c. 0.5m; ext. H c. 2.5m) and ENE-SW, which is reduced to a scarp (at NE: H 3m) elsewhere, and a slight outer fosse E-SSW. There are entrance gaps at NW (Wth of base 1.5m) and SE (Wth of base 2.2m). Situated in a slight col between higher ground c. 100m to the N and E but overlooking a slight NNW-SSE valley, the floor of which is c. 200m to the SW. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 33.4m NNW-SSE; 33m E-W) that slops down slightly to the SE defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 5-7m; int. H 0.7m at S to 2m at N; ext. H 1.3m at S to 1.7m at N), with an outer stone facing N-SE. There is no visible fosse but there is an entrance gap (Wth of base 2.2m), probably modern, at WSW. Situated towards the bottom at the SE end of the spine of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This rath is represented on McCrea’s map of Co. Monaghan (1793). It was described in 1967 as a subcircular grass and fern-covered area (dims 27m NW-SE; 22m NE-SW) that sloped down to the SE (H 1.6m), which was defined by an earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.5m) with some bushes NW-N. The perimeter was reduced to a scarp (at SE: Wth 5m; H 2.2m) N-SE and is incorporated into a field bank and hedge SE-WNW. There was no visible fosse or entrance. The vegetation was cleared mechanically in 2012.
