Located on a rise in a level, low-lying landscape. A small circular feature is depicted on the 1834 and 1907 editions of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in italic lettering as ‘Grave Yard’. It is reputed to have been a Quaker burial ground (D’arcy 1897, 209), that was limited to members of the Whitside family (OSNB, 2, 157). This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 18m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 2.1m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) supporting mature deciduous trees. There is evidence of at least two graves in the interior and the enclosure has an entrance gate with masonry piers at E. Kilcorran Lough is a subrectangular lake (dims c. 370-c. 500m NE-SW; c. 370-c. 430m NW-SE) surrounded by drumlins with a crannog c. 30m from the central part of the NW shore. This is a circular overgrown cairn (diam. 22-23m; H 2m) that continues underwater (L 5m plus; D 3m plus). At the shoreline on the E side are at least 16 radial beams (dims 0.1m x 0.1m; L 1m; up to dims 0.3m x 0.3m; L 5m) with pegs at intervals (0.5m). On the same side there are at least 26 vertical piles. There were some quern stones and hone stones on the surface. Detached three-bay three-storey house, dated 1756. Pitched slate roof with rendered rectangular-plan chimneystacks having clay pots, slate copings, clay ridge tiles, cast-iron rainwater goods and timber eaves boards. Roughcast rendered walls with render plinth course. Square-headed window openings having tooled sandstone sills and replacement timber sliding sash windows, six-over-three pane to second floor, six-over-six pane to first floor and three-over-three pane to ground floor. Tooled sandstone surrounds to window openings to front (north-east) and south-east elevations. Square-headed door openings to front at first floor level, and rear elevations, with tooled sandstone surrounds. Replacement timber panelled door to front having spoked rectangular over-light, door opening onto stone flagged platform and flight of twelve sandstone steps, splayed to base, flanked by recent metal railings. Segmental arch to underside of steps. Timber battened door to rear, with date inscribed to lintel. Seven-bay two-storey outbuilding to rear, roof missing, retaining tooled stone eaves course, coursed rubble sandstone and limestone walls having tooled sandstone quoins, gauged brick square-headed openings with timber fittings. Three-bay outbuilding to rear, with pitched slate roof and replacement rainwater goods, roughcast rendered walls and square-headed door and window openings with recent timber fittings.
