- MO024-040: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CMO024-040----. Located on the NW-facing spine of a small NW-SE drumlin ridge, which rises like a rib through the interior of the monument. This is a subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 39m NW-SE; 33m NE-SW) that slopes down steeply to the NW (H 4.3m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 10m; int. H 1.8m; ext. H 1.5m) SE-S that morphs into a scarp (at NW: Wth 1.5m; H 1.8m) with some bushes elsewhere. There is no visible fosse, although a berm (Wth 2.4m) separates the bank from a NE-SW field wall at SE. The original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). Situated on a broad SE-NW ridge or spur in a low-lying landscape with a small E-W stream curving around the point on the N side and turning S into a mill-pond. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 4.3m) defined by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 4.2-4.5m; int. D 0.5-0.6m; ext. D 0.9-1m) and an outer bank (Wth of base 4.5-5.6m; ext. H 0.4-0.7m) with bushes (max. ext. diam. 18.6m NW-SE). There is a causeway (Wth of top 1.2m; H 0.6m) and entrance (Wth 2.6m) through the bank at WNW marked by stones. - Farm Hill, farmyard complex, 1780–1820, Regional interest, registry number 41402707, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=MO&regno=41402707. Farmyard comprising house, with yard of outbuildings to rear, built c.1800. Detached three-bay two-storey house, having gabled porch with chamfered corners to front (south-east) elevation. and rear return having lower pitched roof, partly catslide over single-storey projection to rear (north-west) elevation. Pitched slate roofs, with red brick chimneystacks with clay pots, rendered copings, clay ridge tiles, and cast-iron rainwater goods, having terracotta ridge tiles and painted masonry chimneystack to return with clay pot. Lined-and-ruled rendered walls to front elevation and south-west gable, roughcast rendered elsewhere. Round-headed window opening to front of porch, square-headed elsewhere, with painted masonry and painted tooled stone sills, and replacement uPVC windows throughout. Square-headed timber panelled door to porch, with dressed stone steps. Yard to rear of house, having multiple-bay single-storey outbuilding with attic storey to south-west range, multiple-bay two-storey outbuilding to north-east range, and detached single and two-storey outbuildings to north-west boundary of yard. Pitched slate roofs with red brick eaves courses, and painted rubble stone walls. Diamond-shaped openings to first floor of north-east range, square-headed openings to ground floor and other ranges. Elliptical-arch and depressed three-centred carriage openings to north-west and south-west ranges. Timber battened fittings, wrought-iron gate to north-west range. Cast-iron pump to yard. Yard entrances to north-west boundary and to north corner, each having wrought-iron gate. Rubble stone boundary walls to front garden, having cast-iron gate piers.
- Mill (water), 1790–1900, Regional interest, registry number 41402708, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=MO&regno=41402708. Mill complex, comprising two-storey corn mill, built c.1800, having three-bay first floor and five-bay ground floor, with lower three-bay two-storey flax mill of c.1890 recessed to west gable end, slightly lower two-bay two-storey grain store to west gable end, and lower two-storey block of two workers' houses having three-bay first floor and five-bay ground floor. Built into slope, buildings having single-storey rear (north) elevation. Pitched slate roofs throughout, with clay ridge tiles and concrete copings to mills and store, and red brick chimneystacks and eaves course to worker's houses, with clay tiles to ridge. Rubble stone walls with vestiges of render, and having squared stone quoins, rubble quoins to workers' houses. Two blocked elliptical carriage arches to corn mill, one with traces of former gable, and evidence of former openings to first floor. Square-headed window openings, some with stone sills, some with timber battened shutters, some boarded up. Square-headed door openings, with timber battened doors. Camber-arch opening to front (south) elevation of flax mill with projecting cast-iron breast-shot waterwheel.
