Large boulders along S perimeter of site probably field clearance debris. The site is the result of the scarping of a natural hillock to produce a flat topped mound. Situated on top of a low natural rise in undulating countryside with castle (OF043-007----) and standing stone (OF043-006002-) to the N. Only portion of N wall survives with wall footings elsewhere with modern road intersecting W end of church. Long rectangular church (ext. dims. 7.9m N-S; 16.7m E-W; wall T 1m) built with roughly coursed limestone rubble. Door splay at the W end of N wall indicates original location of door. No other architectural features visible. Area to N of church marked as 'Church Field' on first edition of the OS 6-inch map. Situated on a natural rise overlooking river to the N. Cist burial (L 7ft by 3.5 ft) discovered 0.7m to the NE of a standing stone (OF043-006002-) in the early 1900's (Gilling 1938 Vol. 8, 161). No skeletal remains or any evidence of pottery survived. Archaeological test trenching of the footprint for a house 60m from the standing stone (OF043-006002-) was carried out by Chris Read under licence no. 00E0746. Cist burial discovered 0.7m to the NE of the standing stone in the 1900's (Gilling 1938 vol. 8, 161). Archaeological test trenching of the footprint for a house 60m from the standing stone was carried out by Chris Read under licence no. 00E0746. Situated on flat floodplains of a nearby river which is located to the N in undulating countryside. Small rectangular shaped tower three storeys high (ext. dims. 5.35m SE-NW; 6.4m NE-SW; wall T 1.1m) built with roughly coursed limestone rubble with base batter evident. There are outhouses attached to the NE and SW faces and a portion the NE wall is destroyed. Main two centred pointed door with chamfered punch dressed jambs with drafted margins and rebated in a similar fashion to Ballycowan Castle (OF016-018001-) and Srah castle (OF017-006001-) located at the centre of the SW wall. The internal plan consists of a small single chamber at each level the floors of which are carried on wooden beams. There is evidence for an internal wooden stairs via support holes on the face of the SW wall. There is evidence of a flanking turret 25m to the N of the tower which probably belonged to the original bawn. Only the SE half of the tower (ext. diam. 4.2m; wall T 1m) survives with outhouses attached to the SW. No other trace of the bawn survives. Probable late medieval tower and bawn wall with flanking corner towers.
