H 0.5m) with enclosing fosse (int. D 2.5m ; Wth 2m) and external bank (ext. H 0.7m; Wth 2m) of stone construction. Causeway entrance (Wth 2m) at W. The external bank has evidence of stone facing on its outer face, best preserved at S. To the N of the site are the grass covered wall footings of farmhouses which are marked on the 1840 edition of the OS 6-inch. map. It is not certain whether the stone facing of the outer bank is an original feature or whether it was built by the occupiers of the nearby farmhouses. On a slight rise in an area of undulating countryside with nearby ringfort (OF008-031----) to the N. Raised circular area (37m E-W; 36m N-S) enclosed by gently sloping bank ( Wth 1m, int. H 0.3m); wide flat bottomed fosse (Wth 2m; int. D 2m; ext. D 0.2m) with slight evidence of an external bank at S. Causeway entrance (Wth 2.5m) at SE. with evidence of wall footings on either side of the causeway. Uncertain if wall is original or a later feature. The interior of the site slopes from N to S. with a modern field wall and road intercepting the fosse at W. Detached four-bay single-storey thatched farmhouse, built c.1800, with direct-entry plan but having screen wall to one side of entrance internally. Pitched oaten straw roof with exposed scolloping to ridge and twine to eaves. Low rendered chimneystacks. Rendered stone walls. Small openings with replacement uPVC windows and having two small windows, one at each end of rear wall. Replacement timber door. Sited at end of short avenue and facing outbuilding and having slightly-recessed outbuilding attached to road end of house.
