This enclosing feature is depicted as a roughly square-shaped area defined by two earthen banks with an intervening wide fosse on the revised 1908 ed. OS 25-inch map. On this map the enclosing element is only visible on the E and S sides of the castle. A linear bank runs NW off the E side of the enclosure which sub-divides the interior of the bawn. No enclosing element of the bawn is indicated on the W and N sides of the castle. Situated on rising ground in undulating countryside. All that remains of this house is the central chimney stack (Wth 3.2m; L. 1.2m) which is faced on both sides built with roughly coursed limestone rubble. There is a fireplace on the NE and SW faces which originally heated a ground floor room either side of the chimney stack. The remains indicate that the chimney stack was built first freestanding with the walls of the house being built around the chimney stack. The plan of the house would have consisted of two ground rooms orientated NE-SW with a central door directly in front of the chimney stack from which either room was accessed. This site is very similar to another medieval house in Ballynamire (OF016-058). Marked as a convent on the OS 6-inch map. Probable 17th-century farmhouse.
