The elements were broken and fragmentary but the wood was in a moderate condition with some bark intact. The degraded remains of a possible metal tool-mark were noted on one element. The wood lay in a sticky green/brown well-humified peat surrounded by poorly humified orange/brown sphagnum peat with occasional eriophorum.
