Located on the low-lying floodplains of a tributary of the river Brosna which is located to the N. Circular area (diam 35m N-S) enclosed by two banks with intervening fosse (Wth 2.1m; ext. D 0.7m). Inner bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.7m) is destroyed at N, poorly preserved outer bank visible as a field boundary at E and obscured at W by modern field clearance. No apparent entrance feature visible. The remains of a circular lime kiln located in the SW sector of the ringfort. H varies 1 - 2m); outer fosse (Wth varies 3 - 4m; ext. D 0.4m) with causewayed entrance (Wth 3m) at SE. No external bank visible. Evidence of stone revetment along the inner bank at E. Situated on top of an E-W esker ridge in undulating countryside. Circular area (diam 31m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.2m) and outer fosse (Wth varies 2 - 3m; ext. D 0.2m) which is destroyed from E to S with no evidence of an external bank or entrance feature. Kilcomin [Ceall Chuimín/Cill Chuimín/church of Cuimín] named after Cuimín Fada [long] a seventh century saint who was born in the territory of Caoille Conaill, located between Rathfran bay and Lacken Bay, in the barony of Tirawley, Co. Mayo where his family operated a school (Ó Riain 2011, 245). The Ordnance Survey Letters of 1838 identified Kilcommon old churchyard with ‘Disert Chuimin’ which was located close to the borders of Leinster and Munster (Herity 2008, 182). Situated in flat pasture with good views in all directions. Roughly circular shaped boulder that was originally located in stand of coniferous treees that were cut down a couple of years ago and the bullaun stone that is locally known as St Cuimin's Stone was relocated to the corner of the field. Originally the stone was located at Nat. Grid Ref. 206043/189807 and was then moved to its current location 20m to the west in the corner of the same field. Large circular boulder (diam. 1.2m; H 0.4m) with three hollow depressions on its surface the deepest hollow measures 0.4m diam by 0.14m deep, the second depression is located on the edge of the stone and measures 0.42m diam. by 0.1m deep, the third and shallowest depression measures 0.25m diam. by 0.1m deep. This stone is associated with St Cuimin of the nearby monastery of Kilcomin (OF041-004002-). Local people used to visit the bullaun stone and leave behind votive offerings to St Cuimín in the hollow depressions and was especially known for its cure of headaches (pers. comm. Henry Bevans), none of these offerings survive today. Bullaun stone associated with the monastery of Kilcomin (OF041-004005-) and described in the nineteenth century as 'In a rock, near Rutland, in the neighbourhood near Kilcommon, are some marks like impressions from human knees and arms. These, at least some years ago, were held in high veneration as being the marks of St. Cuimin's devotional prostrations - the devout saint having by continual prayer, worn traces in the solid limestone' (Cooke 1875, 211). Detached L-plan four-bay single-storey Tudor style gate lodge, build c.1850, with gable-fronted bay to north and veranda. Modern extension to rear. Hipped slate roof, pitched to gable, with terracotta right tiles and rendered chimneystacks. Ruled and lined rendered walls with stucco quoins and a carved stone plaque to gable. Canted-bay window to gable with scalloped slates to roof, timber sash windows and a tooled limestone sill. Round-headed window openings within veranda with timber sash windows and tooled limestone sills. Square-headed door opening within veranda with timber panelled door and tooled limestone threshold. Timber arcading springing from limestone blocks to veranda with tiled floor.
- Mill (water), 1780–1820, Regional interest, registry number 14942006, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=OF&regno=14942006. Detached U-plan six-bay five-storey mill, built c.1800, with two-bay five-storey to rear and two-storey extension to south. No longer in use. Located on the Little Brosna River. Random coursed limestone and sandstone walls with traces of roughcast render. Square-headed window openings with limestone flat arches. Carriage arch openings to ground floor with sandstone voussoirs. Ruin of single-storey building to front of mill. Overgrown mill race survives to site.
- Worker's house, 1840–1860, Regional interest, registry number 14942008, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=OF&regno=14942008. Pair of semi-detached two-bay two-storey workers' houses and laundry to Milltown Park, built c.1850, with extensions to rear. Set back from road. Hipped slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Random coursed walls. Square-headed window openings with brick reveals and timber sash windows. uPVC window to rear elevation. Square-headed door openings with brick reveals and timber battened doors. Single-storey outbuildings to south of cottages. Site accessed through stone gate piers to front site.
