The site (L 16.97m min.; Wth 0.68m; D 0.16m) is orientated ENE-WSW. At the E end it consists of three closely set longitudinal planks and two pegs. The planks (W 0.12-0.42m) are radially, tangentially and half-split. The pegs (diam. 0.04-0.05m) have been flattened to angles of 30° max. The wood is in poor condition and lies in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with ericaceous remains and a layer of Eriophorum appears to have grown over the site. At the W end this structure continues as a roundwood and two split timbers. Compiled by: Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College Dublin). Date of upload: 23 May 2011 - OF026-091: Structure - peatland, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2COF026-091----. A half-split timber exposed along its length in the drain face (L 1.1m; Wth 0.15m min.; D 0.08m). It appears to have been secured in place with two pegs. The pegs are adjacent, 0.15m above the timber, and are set at 80° and 45°. The wood is in poor condition consistent with having been exposed for some time prior to being enveloped by peat. In addition to splitting, the timber has a metal-cut chisel point on one end. This site lies in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with ericaceous remains. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2003. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument. The original survey description was compiled by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin). A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
