Detached twelve-bay two-storey hospital building, built 1930-32, with flat-roofed later link connecting with L-plan three-bay two-storey block of similar form and detailing. Hipped slate roofs to both blocks, with two red brick chimneystacks to smaller building, slightly projecting to north elevation and one to south end of larger building, roof of latter block also having three copper roof vents with classical detailing to sides and having ball finials. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Red brick walling to front and side elevations, with rendered base and having soldier course of stretcher and header bricks at level of window and door heads and also forming lintels to same. Yellow brick walling to rear elevation. Square-headed window openings with granite sills and timber sliding sash windows throughout. Main block front and side elevations having six-over-six pane windows to first floor and six-over-nine pane to ground floor; rear has six-over-six pane to first floor, three-over-six pane to ground floor and some one-over-one pane to each floor and some four-over-eight pane to ground floor. Smaller block has three-over-six pane to first floor, flanking one-over-one pane window, and six-over-six pane to ground floor; three-over-three pane and three-over-six pane to north elevation. Square-headed doorways, those of larger block having granite surrounds; principal entrance having carved surround, moulded cornice and geometrically glazed overlight; both having timber panelled doors. Smaller block has doorway set into windbreak, with overlight and covered with copper hood. Buildings set at extreme west end of hospital complex. - Meath Hospital, hospital/infirmary, 1820–1825, Regional interest, registry number 50110049, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DU®no=50110049. Detached nine-bay three-storey hospital over raised basement, built 1822, with central three-bay pedimented breakfront and three-bay side elevations. Extended to rear in 1865 and 1874, and having eight-bay four-storey block added c. 1880 at right angle to southeast; and various twentieth-century additions. Hipped skirt slate roof with seven red brick chimneystacks, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Eight-bay block has pitched slate roof and three chimneystacks. Pediment with carved granite cornice and coping, cut granite tympanum inscribed 'Meath Hospital', and inscribed 'County Dublin Infirmary' to frieze below. Roughly squared coursed calp limestone walls, having tooled limestone quoins and granite stringcourse over basement to both blocks. Principal entrance comprises tripartite granite doorcase with pilasters having scrolled console brackets supporting frieze and moulded cornice; replacement double-leaf glazed timber door and plain overlight and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash side-lights. Elliptical retaining arch above entrance with cut granite voussoirs and vermiculated keystone, and inset carved granite plaque inscribed 'Meath Hospital 1771'. Entrance approached by flight of eleven granite steps flanked by rendered balustrade and piers surmounted by lamp standards. Square-headed window openings with granite sills and brown brick surrounds. Early block having one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows to lower floors of flanking bays and replacement uPVC windows to top of floor of same bays and to breakfront. One-over-one pane windows to later block, with six-over-six pane to northern four bays of second floor of east elevation. Detached two-storey T-plan hospital, built 1896, having three-bay central breakfront to front (north) elevation flanked by four-bay wings, with full-height veranda to inner three bays of rear elevation, and having lower two-storey block to rear with three-bay south and five-bay east and west elevations. Hipped slate roof to main block, with two ashlar granite chimneystacks having carved cornices. U-plan slate roof to rear block, with slighter hipped roof to valley, and three brown brick chimneystacks; cast-iron rainwater goods. Brown brick chimneystacks to return with carved limestone cornices and some clay pots. Ashlar granite to breakfront, middle bay slightly recessed over slightly advanced porch, having carved dentillated granite cornice over ground floor. Rusticated snecked limestone walls to flanking bays, with cut granite eaves and plinth courses, ashlar granite quoins and carved granite platband between floors. Rusticated limestone walls with dressed limestone quoins to rear. Square-headed window openings with one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows and granite sills; yellow, brown or red brick surrounds and voussoirs to wings and rear block. Round-headed main doorway has carved granite surround and keystone, and replacement door, approached by recent steps and wheelchair lift concealed behind wall.
