On the crest of the N-facing slope a low WNW-ESE ridge. Circular area planted with mature deciduous trees (int. diam. 41.3m NW-SE; 39.9m NE-SW) defined by a stone wall (Wth 5.4m at SW to 6.6m at SE; H 1.5-2.2m) SE-W-NE and a stone spread elsewhere, with evidence of terracing SE-SW in the facing stones within the wall. There is a collapsed mural chamber (dims 8.6m x 2.5m) at WNW with a doorway (Wth 1m) on the inner face of the cashel wall at its SW end. The stone-lined entrance (Wth 2m; L 6.8m) is at SE. H 1.1m) with an entrance (Wth 2.4m) at ESE. Archaeological testing to within a few metres of the site at E failed to produce any related material (Read 2008b). It is regarded as a church which may have been a Roman Catholic chapel before a cruciform church in Castlerea was built in 1798 in what is now St. Joseph's cemetery (Hurley 1943, vol. 1, 5; Beirne 2000, 225-6). It is not visible at ground level, and there is no trace of the well Tobershanbally (RO026-037002-) or of a settlement (RO026-037003-) implied in the name Oldtown. Archaeological testing (07E0153) just to the SE produced no related material other than traces of an earthen bank that may have surrounded the church but there were no burials (Casey 2007). The parish church of Kilkeevin is within a circular graveyard (RO026-040002-) (diam. 57m E-W; 54m N-S) defined by a drystone wall built inside a scarp (H 0.6m at S). The church is a rectangular structure (int. dims 19m E-W; 6.9m N-S at E; 8.2m at W), of which only part of the S wall (L 7m; H 3.5m) with a flat-arched doorway (Wth 1m; H 2m) and a fragment of the E gable (L 3.5m; H 4.6m; T 1m) survive, but the outline is constructed with drystone walls. Archaeological testing (03E1798) outside the graveyard at SW during 2003 failed to produce any burials or related archaeological material (Fitzpatrick 2004, 13; 2006b). Roman Catholic graveyard with ruin of former church, established 1798 and extended to the west at a later date. Belfry of church is extant. Collection of stone grave markers from nineteenth century to present, including mausoleum and enclosed section dedicated to the O'Connor Dons. Ashlar gate piers with cast-iron gates to original graveyard. Site bounded by stone wall with channelled ashlar gate piers and cast-iron gates.
- House, 1850–1890, Regional interest, registry number 31814003, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=RO&regno=31814003. Detached two-storey house, with three bays to first floor and four to ground, built c.1870, with outbuildings to rear. Pitched slate roof with ridge tiles, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Pebbledashed walls. Timber sash windows with stone sills. Replacement timber panelled door with overlight. Front of site bounded to street by pebbledashed wall with rendered coping and wrought-iron gates. House bounded to south-west by random coursed limestone wall.

A townland is the smallest land division of Ireland, and the unit of a rural address; old registers such as the 1901 and 1911 censuses file it under its civil parish and barony.
