On top of a broad hill, and described as an old church called Tamplereagh by J. O'Donovan in 1837 (O'Flanagan 1931, vol. 2, 42). It is depicted on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a circular area (diam. c. 90m) defined by field banks WSW-N-ESE. It is known locally as Teampull church, and the graveyard (RO029-140002-) is described locally as an area of about 2 acres (c. 0.8ha) which contained low mounds but no grave markers. The graveyard is an ecclesiastical enclosure defined by a field bank and hedge WSW-N, but the perimeter N-ESE has been removed and no mounds are now visible in pasture. The outline of the enclosure (diam. c. 80m) is visible as a fosse feature on the OSI aerial images (2005) and Bing (c. 2013). A point on the perimeter at NW consisting of a stone wall (L 2.5m E-W; H 0.6m; T c. 2m) with a wall running SSW from its W end (L 2.5m; H 1m; T 1m) is regarded as the church. At the bottom of a gentle E-facing slope. Probably built by the King family in the early 18th century and described as Ballinafad House on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Rectangular masonry structure (ext. dims 21.6m N-S; 7.55m E-W) of two storeys and six bays, surviving complete apart from the W wall and much of the S wall. The doorway (Wth 1.55m) at the centre of the E wall led to a passage (L c. 6m; Wth 1.3m) running S to what was probably the servants area. The principal room is to the N of the entrance doorway and has a round-headed recess (Wth 2.05m) with a pointed window in the E wall. The chimney block in the N wall of this room also provided a fireplace for the N room (int. dims 6.45m E-W; 3.65m N-S).
