H 0.3-1m) and shallow fosse (Wth of top 5-7.6m; Wth of base 2-2.4m; D 0.2-0.3m). There is no identifiable original entrance. Rath (RO029-030----) is c. 150m to the NNE. An arc of double facing-stones from an earthen bank (Wth 1.4m; H 0.2-0.5m) survives S-W (C c. 20m) in a coniferous forest from what is probably a rath. Rath (RO029-034----) is c. 150m to the SSE. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. Archaeological testing (E005073) in advance of the N5 Ballaghderreen to Sramoge road during 2019 identified an undated fire spot as a circular area (dims c. 1.1m x 0.8m; T 0.02m) located c. 40m to the E of the rath (Ó Maoldúin 2019; excavations.ie: 2109:460). H 0.4m) and the remains of a fosse (Wth of top 5m; Wth of base 2.2-2.6m; D 0.4m). There is no identifiable original entrance. Enclosure (RO029-032----) is c. 150m to the NNW. H 0.3-0.4m) NW-ESE, with an outer fosse (Wth of top 7.8-8.3m; Wth of base 2-2.5m; D 0.2m at N to 0.5m at S) NNW-E-WSW. There is an entrance causeway (Wth 3m) at SE (max. ext. diam. 62m N-S). This is the parish church of Bumlin, listed as Bunilling in the ecclesiastical taxation of Elphin in 1306 (Cal. doc. Ire., vol. 5, 223). Situated on a gentle S-facing slope with a W-E stream or drain c. 180m to the S. A short length of what is probably the S wall (L 4m; H 3.4m; T 0.85m) survives within a kite-shaped graveyard (RO028-037002-) (dims 75m N-S; 50m E-W at N) defined by masonry walls (H c. 1.2m; T 0.5m).
