Built on the W bank of the River Shannon after 1623 by Maurice Griffith, and situated on a shelf overlooking the River Shannon and the bridge at Carrick-on-Shannon. A wall at the back of Shannonview House is thought to be part of it (OS Name Books), but no diagnostic features are visible (Bradley and Dunne 1988b, 16). Archaeological testing (07E0825) c. 50m to the SW (Read 2010e) and archaeological monitoring (07E0747) of pipe-laying during 2007 failed to produce any related material (Timoney 2011). Situated in pasture with some rushes on the gentle W-facing slope of an E-W drumlin ridge. The N-S River Shannon loops eastwards c. 600m-1.2km distant from it N-E-SSE, and the small SW-NE Killukin River is at the base of the drumlin c. 250m to the SE. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 24m) defined by a low scarp (at W: Wth 3.6m; H 0.55m). It is cut by a closed E-W land drain towards the perimeter at S. Located in improved pasture with regenerated rushes regenerated just below the crest of the N-facing slope of an E-W drumlin ridge. The N-S River Shannon loops eastwards from it c. 600m-1.2km distant N-E-SSE, and it overlooks Carrick-on-Shannon to the N. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a circular grass and rush-covered area (diam. 19m E-W; 18m N-S) defined by a low scarp (at E: Wth 1.7m; H 0.15m), which is best preserved SE-SW but is barely traceable NW-NE (downslope). There is no visible entrance but there are slight traces of a fosse at SE and an E-W drain abuts the scarp at S. A pool of the River Shannon, into which the Killukin flows, is c. 170m to the NE. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is an oval grass and rush-covered area (dims 32m N-S; 22m E-W) defined by a low earthen bank (at SSE: Wth of base 4.7m; Wth of top 0.9m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.55m) SE-W-NE, which is reduced to scarp (at E: Wth 2.8m; H 0.75m) NE-SE. There is no visible fosse or entrance. Rath (RO011-181----) is c. 170m to the W. Two-storey and single-storey returns to rear. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks. Roughcast-rendered walls with ruled-and-lined render to gables of earlier house; rendered plinth. Timber sliding sash windows with internal shutters, casement and replacement uPVC windows with stone sills. Segmental-headed doorcase with stained-glass fanlight and sidelights and timber panelled door. Stone steps leading to entrance. Plaster cornices and tiles to interior. House set within own grounds. Cast-iron gate piers to road flanked by rendered walls with porous stones to coping.

Segmental-headed entrance with replacement glazed timber with fanlight and sidelights.

Fixed pane timber windows with timber sills. Timber battened double door. Set on north-east side of platform opposite main station building.

Red brick walls to ground floor with timber panelling to first floor. Segmental-headed window openings to ground floor with casement windows. Fixed pane aluminium windows to first floor with glazed battened door set within timber porch. Set on north-east side of platform.

Random coursed rock-faced limestone and sandstone walls. Tooled cut stone buttresses to façade. Tooled cut stone quoins and surrounds to openings and projecting plinth to rear. Segmental-headed window openings to façade now blocked with central entrance bay having modern shutters. Red brick to segmental arch. Oculus windows to rear and Diocletian windows to gables with red brick surrounds, now blocked up.
