H 0.5m; ext. H 1.6m) which has limited sections of inner stone-facing at S, W and ENE. There is no visible fosse or entrance. Rath (RO013-003----) is c. 80m to the ESE. There is no visible fosse or recognisable entrance, and the site is bisected by a NE-SW field bank just SE of the centre. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 34.5m NW-SE; 29m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (H 0.1-0.2m generally to 0.5m at SW and 1.4m at SE), with bushes on the perimeter ESE-SW. Marked as a large building on the 1837 (MA 74) (dims c. 20m E-W; c. 15m N-S) and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch maps, and situated on low-lying ground 60m NE of the W-E Lung River. It is thought to have been a castle of the Costellos. Nothing is visible at ground level in pasture. Archaeological testing (05E0601) c. 100m to the NE failed to produce any related material (Henry, M. 2008b).
