D-shaped platform (dims 28.5m NE-SW; c. 15m NW-SE) defined by a scarp (H 1-1.2m) SW-NE and by a N-S field bank at E and an E-W field bank at S. There is no visible bank, fosse or identifiable original entrance, and the SE part of the site cannot be traced. Rath (RO006-032----) is immediately to the SE. Circular grass-coverd area which remains unplanted in a coniferous forest (diam. 26m E-W; 25m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth 4.6m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 0.45m) SW-NW and N-ESE, and a scarp (H 0.45m generally to 1m at S) ESE-SW, but the perimeter cannot be traced NW-N. There is no visible fosse or entrance. There is no visible fosse or entrance, although a fosse (Wth c. 4m; D c. 2m) at SW was recovered in excavation (O' Riordain 1990b; Channing 1994a). On a terrace of rock-outcrop, and probably an early ecclesiastical site. Visible in 1995 as a D-shaped grass-covered ecclesiastical enclosure (RO006-083004-) (dims 27.5m E-W; 22.5m N-S) defined by the edge of the outcrop N-E (max. H 3m) and an earthen bank (Wth 4m; H 0.3-0.7m) elsewhere. The foundations of a mortared stone wall, presumably of a church, and burials (RO006-083002-) were found in the course of an excavation in 1989 for the Boyle by-pass (O'Riordain 1990a, 45). A further 17 inhumations were recovered S of the ecclesiastical enclosure, when it was determined that the burials extended further W, but not E under the by-pass road (Channing 1994c). Souterrain (RO006-083005-) is at the W side of the ecclesiastical enclosure and the holy well (RO006-083003-) is just to the N. It is within the field system (RO006-083006-), and cashel (RO006-083007-) is c. 200m to the E. An outlet flows NNE, but there is no evidence of veneration. Archaeological testing c. 50m to the W in 1999 and c. 170m to NW in 2004 failed to produce any archaeological material (Connolly 2000; Henry 2007). The enclosure (RO006-080----) and cashel (RO006-083004-) are within the field system, and Templenadriney church (RO006-083001-), souterrain (RO006-083005-) and holy well (RO006-083003-) are at its SW edge. Double facing-stones (Wth of wall 1.4m) are intermittently visible, and the interior is bisected by an ENE-WSW field wall. H 0.6-0.9m) NW-SW with a gap (Wth 10m) SW-NW. The natural scarp (H c. 2m) of the terrace adds to the defences at the N. There is a house-site (RO006-084001-) (int. dims 4.8m E-W; 3.6m N-S) defined by stone spreads (Wth 1.5-2.5m; H 0.3-0.5m) on all sides except the N is inside the perimeter at S, where rock-outcrop is also visible. Excavation (96E0050) of the burnt mound (RO006-207001-) revealed a brushwood togher (dims 5.5m NE-SW; 1.5m N-SE) immediately to the SE which had been truncated by drains at either end.
