Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on marshy ground on the S shore of a bay at the SE angle of Lough Key, at the point where the Boyle River leaves the lake. Oval grass-covered area (dims 46.5m NW-SE; 26.5m NE-SW) defined by a stony scarp and hedge (H 0.9-1.6m) NE-NW and protruding into the lake NW-NE. There is no visible bank, fosse or entrance. D'Alton's description (1845, 114-5) and local tradition locates it on Knockvicar Hill, overlooking a loop of the Boyle River c. 200-270m distant NW-E, but no feature is visible at ground level.
