H 1.1m) with some bushes NW-NE which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.6-1.1m) elsewhere, and a complete fosse (Wth of top 4.7-5m; Wth of base 2.5-3.5m; D 0.2-0.9m), with a slight outer bank (Wth 2.7m; H 0.3m) WSW-NW. There is no identifiable original entrance. At the crest of a W-facing slope of the NW-SE ridge of Mullaghcreigha Hill. Circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 37.4m E-W; 34.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at E: Wth 2m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.3m; at N: Wth 7m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.6m) which merges into a scarp down to the interior (H 0.8m) at W. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. A hut-site (RO023-117002-) (diam. 4.9m N-S; 4.9m E-W; 3.2m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.4-3.2m; int. H 0.6-0.9m; ext. H 0.3-0.5m) with some internal facing-stones and an entrance (Wth 0.8m) at SE is just N of the centre. H 0.3-0.5m) with some internal facing-stones and an entrance (Wth 0.8m) at SE. On a shelf at the top of the SW-facing slope of Mullaghcreigha Hill. Described as a functioning Roman Catholic church on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. The church is a rectangular overgrown area (int. dims 10.2m NW-SE; 4.4m NE-SW) in Letreen townland defined by a field wall and townland boundary with Kiltrustan at NE and the grass-covered fragments of the SE (Wth 1.2m; H 0.3-0.7m; L 3m) and SW (Wth 1.5m; H 0.3m; L 2m) walls. The church is towards the S end of a D-shaped enclosure (max. dims c. 100m N-S; c. 55m E-W) defined by a bank and outer fosse that is only evident as a feature on a Lidar image (Davis 2015, 174, No. 66:2). There is no evidence of burial, and the church is skirted by a NE-SW farm lane approaching from the SW that turns SE just N of the structure. Marked on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map and described as Lettreen Well in italic lettering on both, and situated on a gentle SW-facing slope of Mullaghcreigha Hill. Circular well (diam. 0.9m) defined by a masonry wall (T 0.5m; ext. H 0.5m; int. H 1m) with an opening (Wth 0.6m) and two steps at NE. It is traditionally associated with St Patrick (Gormley 1989, 62), but there is no evidence of veneration. Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) incorporated into the townland boundary with Doughloon SE-SW on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle S-facing slope of Mullaghcreigha Hill. It is not visible at ground level in reclaimed pasture, apart from a curve in the drystone wall and hedge boundary SE-SW. The perimeter is visible as a slight feature on a Lidar image (Davis 2015, 172, No. 65:7), completing the circuit SW-W-NE. First identified in an unpublished archaeological LiDAR report (Davis, 2015) commissioned by Roscommon County Council as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the N5 Ballaghaderreen - Scramoge road development. It is located on a SW-facing slope. An area of about 4.5 ha (c. 11 acres) contains field banks of a regular form (Wth 2-2.7m; H 0.2-0.35m) with no accompanying ditches. The banks form small, rectangular or irregularly-shaped fields or paddocks (dims c. 30m x 10m to c. 70m x 30m) with no evidence of lazy-bed cultivation. There is one possible house (dims 14m NE-SW; c. 5m NW-SE) defined by earthen banks at the centre of a cluster of smaller paddocks towards the SE end of the fields, and there may be shallow quarrying at the N end of the area.
