On a gentle E-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 29.7m WNW-ESE; 28.5m NNE-SSW) defined by traces of an earthen bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.5m) at NE and by a complete shallow fosse (Wth of top 3.3m at E to 7.2m at N; Wth of base 1.6-2.4m; int. D 0.2-0.5m; ext. D 0.2-0.8m) with a low, flat-topped outer bank (Wth of base 5.5-8.2m; Wth of top 3-3.2m; H 0.2-0.4m) which survives ESE-SW and is incorporated into a field bank (Wth 3.5m; ext. H 1.8m) SW-NW. There is an entrance in the outer bank (Wth 2m) and a causeway (Wth 2.5m) at SE. Souterrain (RO029-077002-) is in the NW quadrant of the interior. Within the perimeter of rath (RO029-077001-) at NW. A grass-covered depression (dims 7m WNW-ESE; 1m NNE-SSW; D 0.2-0.3m) runs WNW from the centre and turns S at the W end (L 5m). No stones are visible, but there is local knowledge of an underground passage (Gannon 1972). Marked on the 1837 and 1915 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle E-facing slope on the W bank of a SW-NE section of the S-N Scramoge River which has a mill-race that was built since 1837 running parallel with it just NW of the monument. This is a D-shaped, grass-covered area (dims 73.1m NNE-SSW; 55.3m WNW-ESE) defined by a scrub-covered earthen bank (at SSW: Wth 6m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.8m) S-W-N, reduced to a scarp (H 0.7m) N-E, and backing onto the stream at SE. There is a fosse (Wth of top 3.6-6.3m; Wth of base 2-2.9m; D 0.4-1m) and an outer bank (Wth of base 4.6-6.8m; Wth of top 2.8-3m; ext. H 0.2-0.7m) S-W and at NE. The fosse is incorporated into the mill-race W-N. An original entrance cannot be identified.
