Marked as a subrectangular or D-shaped embanked enclosure (ext. dims c. 35m N-S; c. 35m E-W) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a slight rise of a gentle S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 36.3m E-W; 34m N-S) defined by an earthen bank incorporated into a field bank and hedge (Wth 1.4-1.9m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.1-1.3m) SSW-N-E, which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.25-0.4m) elsewhere. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

At the E end of a low W-E spur, c. 150m W of a N-S section of the River Suck. Subrectangular grass-covered area (dims 34m N-S; 20.2m E-W) defined by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 8.6m; Wth of base 2m; int. D 1m; ext. D 1m) at W, and a fosse (Wth of top 5m; Wth of base 1.5m; int. D 0.5m; ext. D 0.4m) and outer bank (Wth 2.7m; ext. H 0.2m) at E. Elsewhere the fosse has been removed, leaving a scarp at N (H 0.7m) and S (H 1.1m). Castle (RO041-002002-) is in the interior. A castle is marked close to the river Suck on the Strafford map of c. 1636 in Mogh (Simington 1949, Athlone (492)) where Laughlyn Mc Feogh Mc Edmund Kelly owned 230 acres in 1641 (idem. 127). It is depicted as in Moyh on Petty's map of Athlone North barony (1683). Situated at the E end of a low W-E spur, c. 150m W of a N-S section of the River Suck and within the inland promontory fort (RO041-002001-).
