On a rise in an undulating landscape. Circular platform (diam. 30m NNW-SSE; 28m WNW-ESE) defined by a scarp (H 1.4m at ESE to 2.55m at WNW), with an outer fosse (at WNW: Wth of top 6.6m; Wth of base 1.4m; D 0.8m) and an outer field wall S-W-NE. It is bisected by a N-S field wall and townland boundary, and is reclaimed E of this in Castlesampson but overgrown to the W. In an undulating landscape. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 32.7m N-S; c. 20m E-W) defined by a wall footing with some bushes which is best preserved NE-E (Wth 1.55-1.65m; max. int. H. 0.5m; max. ext. H 0.55m). The entrance (Wth 3.7m) is at E. The monument is truncated by a N-S field wall towards the perimeter at W and does not survive visibly W of this.
