In undulating pasture, on a low NE-SW ridge. A raised circular area (42.2m NE-SW) defined by two earthen banks and intervening fosse. The inner bank (Wth 4.6m; int. H 1m; ext. H 2m) is substantial and evident all round with traces of internal stone kerbing noted in places. There is a gap (Wth 1.4m) in the bank at E. The fosse (Wth 4m) is evident SE-NW. The outer bank (Wth 3.6m; int. H 1.45m; ext. H 1.3m) is incorporated into a townland boundary SE-NW and levelled elsewhere, though a slight rise was noted on the line of bank at N and SE. Immediately outside the outer bank is a sloping terrace (Wth 2m; H 0.5m). The interior is mainly grass-covered with a few blackthorn bushes in the NW quadrant. A portion (18.5m NNE-SSW; 25m WNW-ESE) of the S half of the interior, abutting the inner bank SE-SW, is divided off by a low sod covered bank. Within the SW quadrant of this area is a low roughly oval sod-covered rise (2.7m NE-SW; 5.8m NW-SE; H 0.5m). A slightly raised semicircular area (4.5m N-S; 3.5m E-W) built against the internal face of the bank at NNE, is defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.5m). The outer bank of the rath is overgrown with blackthorn bushes which are also encroaching on the fosse and inner bank at W and NW. There is a road immediately to E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL026-112: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL026-112----. In undulating pasture, on a gentle N-facing slope. A circular area (int. diam. 20m) enclosed by an earthen bank. The bank is evident all round but is most substantial along the W half (Wth 2.5m; int. H 1.6m; ext. H 1.6m). There is an entrance (Wth 3.5m) at E with a ramp from the exterior. Some bushes grow on the bank. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL026-113: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL026-113----. Prominently sited on the summit of a steep-sided hill with excellent views. An oval platform (30.7m E-W; 23.5m N-S) defined by two earthen banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank (Wth 5.7m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.8m) has a high broadly sloping external face and a low stony internal lip. Some of the stone protruding from the inner edge of the bank may be remains of kerbing or facing. The fosse (Wth 3-4m) and outer bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.2m) are evident WNW-SW, but there is considerable evidence for recent disturbance and modification. Both appear to have been truncated WSW-WNW by the construction of a water reservoir immediately adjacent to the rath. Areas of quarrying occur within the fosse at NE and SE and more extensively SW-W. The outer bank coincides with the natural break of slope N-S. It is levelled WNW-NE to a broad low flat-topped rise (Wth 8m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.4m) defined on its outer edge by a hawthorn hedgerow. It appears as a compact bank of earth and stone (Wth 3-3.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.5-1.2m) ENE-SW, that has been modified to serve as a field boundary. The inner face of the outer bank S-W is greatly disturbed by quarrying. A possible entrance occurs at ESE where there is a slumped gap (Wth 1.4m) in the inner bank and a possible causeway across the fosse as well as a narrow break (Wth 1m), eroded by cattle, in the outer bank. A thicket of blackthorn bushes covers the interior and the outer bank is ringed with hawthorn. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In a shallow basin, in rolling rush-grown pasture. Only part of the rear chamber (L 2.8m) of a SSE-facing court tomb gallery now remains. It is represented by the backstone, now split in two along its length, two sidestones adjoining the W end of the last, and 1.5m forward of these a segmenting jamb. A deep ditch extends E-W 1m forward of the jamb.
