In pasture, at the gently sloping SW end of a ridge. This rath is indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an embanked oval area (35m NW-SE; 20m NE-SW) straddling a NW-SE field boundary. The rath is now mostly levelled and is evident as slightly raised roughly circular area (37.5m NW-SE; 33.7m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.2m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.1m) S-WNW and by a slight scarp elsewhere. A NW-SE field boundary crosses the W half of the interior. An opening to a possible souterrain (SL025-087001-) is in the outer face of the bank at W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In pasture, on a low rise c. 40m W of a disused railway line. The rath is indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an embanked oval area and on the 1914 OS 6-inch map as an arc of hachures SE-NE indicating a raised area. The rath is now evident as a circular platform (33.4m NW-SE) with the remnants of an earthen bank (Wth 5.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.7m) NW-N. The S edge is incorporated into a now disused field boundary. The E arc is mostly levelled and the perimeter is only barely discernible. The interior slopes gently down to E. A stone slab (c. 5m x 2m) rests against the external slope at S. A small quarry pit lies immediately to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL025-089001: Ringfort - cashel, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL025-089001-. In pasture, on a gentle W-facing slope. A slightly raised circular area (30.5m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by two banks and an intervening fosse (Wth 2.6m). The inner bank is broad, low and stony (Wth 7.8m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.3m) and within it is a slightly higher rim (Wth 3.8m) outside of which c. 4m of the stony spread slopes gradually down to the fosse. The outer earthen bank (Wth 2.7m; int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.5m) has a rounded profile with stones protruding from the sod on both the internal and external faces and is evident all round apart from a levelled section (L 15m) at N. The interior is level; over half of it is occupied by an internal enclosure (SL025-089003-). There is a souterrain (SL025-089002-) in the NW quadrant. A disused railway line lies c. 70m to E. A rath (SL025-090001-) lies c. 150m to SSW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL025-089002: Souterrain, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL025-089002-. In the NW quadrant of a cashel (SL025-089001-). Two openings to the souterrain are evident, one within the W half of the square internal enclosure (SL025-089003-) in the cashel and the other c. 5m to the SW close to the cashel wall. The first mentioned opening reveals a vertical drystone-built shaft, circular in section (diam. 1m; D c. 1m), which may be the original access shaft to the souterrain. The shaft is partially infilled with soil and a possible displaced lintel but a creepway is evident, opening to the SW. The second opening reveals a small oval corbelled chamber (3m x 2m; D c. 1.1m), partially infilled with soil and stones. A creepway is evident at the NE side leading in the direction of the previous opening. Within and occupying much of the interior of a cashel (SL025-089001-). A roughly square area (16.7m N-S; 16.5m E-W) defined on the E, W and S sides by a low linear sod-covered bank or wall footing and on the N side by the curved wall of the cashel. This enclosure is best evident on the W side (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.3m) while on the S side it remains only as an inner and outer kerb of stones. One of the two openings to the souterrain (SL025-089002-) is within the enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In undulating pasture, on a rise. A slightly raised oval area (8.9m ESE-WSW; 15.5m NNE-SSW) enclosed by an earthen bank. The bank (Wth 2.1m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.5m) is best evident SW-N, and is very low or levelled elsewhere. A few partially sod-covered stones were noted in the W half of the interior, close to the bank. There is a local tradition of burials in the surrounding field. A wedge tomb (SL025-094----) lies c. 50m to S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In rolling pasture. A pair of opposed orthostats at the SW and another pair some 4m to the NE represent a ruined gallery (L at least 6m; Wth 2.2m at SW, 1.55m at NE). A displaced roofstone lies between the two pairs of orthostats and there is a shattered roofstone at the NE end of the structure. An outer-wall stone stands 1m outside the more northerly of the two opposed orthostats at the SW. Immediately SW of the structure there is a field fence and beyond this there is an orthostat set transversely to the main axis of the gallery. This stone might be part of a facade and if so indicates an original gallery length of some 11m. Just 1m E of this orthostat there is a prostrate stone. There are no traces of mound around the structure but there are a number of loose slabs scattered at the site. An enclosure (SL025-093----) lies c. 50m to N. In undulating pasture, on top of the W side of a low ridge. A slightly raised circular area (30.4m NE-SW) enclosed by an earthen bank and an external fosse. The bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.6m) is evident S-NE, being low internally in places; elsewhere it is incorporated into a linear field boundary which crosses the SE edge of the rath. The fosse (Wth 4m; D 0.9m) is evident S-NE and E-SE on the external side of the linear field boundary. The fosse is most clearly defined SW-NE and evident only as a shallow depression E-SE. The remains of a field boundary (Wth 1.5m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 0.3m) skirt the outer edge of fosse S-SW. The interior is covered by rushes and crossed by a WNW-ESE field boundary. A farm trackway (Wth 2m) crosses the SE quadrant immediately inside the field boundary.
