In pasture, on level ground on the lower S-facing slope of a ridge. A roughly circular area (27m N-S; 23.5m E-W) raised between 0.2m (at N) and 1m (at S) above the surrounding ground level. A hedgerow crosses the interior on an E-W axis, off-centre to N. The rath is indicated as an embanked circular area (diam. c. 25m) on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In pasture, on the lower S-facing slope of a ridge. A raised oval area (35m N-S; 28.5m E-W) enclosed by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 3m). An external dry flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 8.5m; D 1.1m) is evident WNW-NNE. There are numerous gaps in the bank. The NW third of the interior is separated from the remainder by a scarp (H 0.5m) and by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m) and is internally divided by earthen banks. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In pasture, on top of the SW-facing slope of a ridge. A raised roughly circular area (24.5m N-S; 25.6m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 1m on N side; 2.4m on S side) except along the W and SE arcs where the rath is destroyed by quarrying. The foundations of a drystone wall (Wth c. 0.6m; H 0.2m) mark the NW edge of the interior. An external dry flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 5.7m; D 0.4m) is evident along the N and NW arcs. There is a terrace (Wth 3m; H 0.4m) at the base of the scarp along the S and SW arcs. The N half of the interior is level but from the centre there is gentle slope down to SSE. A quarry in the SE sector has removed most of the SE quadrant of the interior. There is a hut site (SL032-107002-) in the interior, situated off-centre to W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). To W of the centre of a rath (SL032-107001-). Foundations of a hut site (max. dims. 4.8m N-S; 5.8m E-W) defined on the S side by a low grassy rise (Wth c. 1m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.35m) and on the W and N sides by a low internal scarp (H 0.4m) from which a few stones protrude. It is truncated on the E side by a subrectangular quarry pit. Low sod-covered remnants of a wall (Wth 0.8m; H 0.3m) extend to WNW from the NW corner of the structure. The structure is cut into the sloping interior of the rath so that its level interior is lower than exterior ground level to N but higher than it to S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In pasture, on a rise, with the ground falling steeply from the edge of the rath at NW to Loughanlea. A raised circular area (46m N-S) enclosed by a flat-topped inner earthen bank (Wth 8.3m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 3.6m). A dry flat-bottomed intervening fosse (Wth 8.5m) is evident SSE-SE. A flat-topped outer earthen bank (Wth 3.6m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 0.2m) is evident SSE-NE. The inner bank, which appears to contain numerous stones, is quarried into along the W arc. There is an entrance (Wth 1.8m) through the inner bank at SE which is partly revetted by stones. There is a souterrain (SL032-108002-) in the W portion of the interior and a hut site (SL032-108003-) in the NE quadrant. Between 30 and 60m away from the edge of the outer bank along the W, S and E arcs is a curving scarp (H 0.6-2m) on the lower slope of a rise. This scarp is cut by another rath (SL032-109----) c. 50m to SSE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). At the W end the passage may turn S for c. 5m. In the NE quadrant of a rath (SL032-108001-), adjacent to the enclosing bank of the rath. The remains of a rectangular structure (c. 8m x c. 3.8m) defined by the foundations of a stone wall (Wth 1.4m; H 0.3m) and a scarp. A dry flat-bottomed external fosse (Wth 4m; D 0.9m) is evident NW-NNE. The interior slopes down gently to SE. The rath is terraced into the hillslope with the N portion of the interior up to 1.45m below and the S portion up to 1.4m above the external ground level. This rath cuts a curving scarp which lies between it and another rath (SL032-108001-) c. 50m to NNW.
