Situated in lowlying, marshy ground. Raised rectangular area (34m NE-SW; 28.5m NW-SE) whose NE, SE and SW sides are defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2m at NE, 3m at SW; int. H 0.3-0.8m; ext. H 1.2-1.7m) with a wide external fosse (Wth 4m at SE, 5.8m at SW) and a low counterscarp bank (Wth. 3m; ext. H 0.4m). The NW side is defined by a ditch, probably adapted from the original fosse, which forms part of the boundary between Cloonaderavally and Lackan townlands. Beyond this is a modern field boundary bank. There is a stone-lined entrance gap (Wth. 3.5m) in the NE side. In the interior, remnants of a low bank (Wth 1.6m; H 0.3m) extends, from close to the enclosing bank at NE, for 11m to SW and then turns at right angles for a few meters to SE. Situated at the NW edge of a N-S ridge in undulating pasture. Raised circular platform (diam. 50m) defined by a substantial earthen bank (Wth 4.1m at S, 7.7m at N; int. H 0.6m at S, 1.2m at N). The external slope of the bank (ext. H 1.2m at S, 3m at N) is enhanced, especially on the W–N side, by the natural slope of the ridge. At the foot of the bank at NNW–NE is a fosse (Wth 5.5m, 3m at base). The fosse is not evident at E–SE but at WSW–NW, where the external ground level falls away steeply, there is a sloping terrace (Wth. 3.5m). A break (Wth 3m) in the bank at ESE may mark original entrance. The basal portion of a drystone wall (H 0.6m) is visible at the external face of the bank at N. Fragments of animal bones are visible in exposed sections of the bank. Compiled by: Patrick F. Situated on the NE side of a low ridge in undulating pasture. Wood-Martin (1882, 113-4) recorded a 'subterranean chamber, with several smaller chambers off'. Two adjacent passages have been identified. Both are walled with drystone masonry and roofed with massive lintels. The first (visible L 5-6m; Wth 1.25m; H 0.8m) is aligned E-W and appears to terminate at a wall at its E end. At its W end, at surface level, an area of surface subsidence (L c. 6m N-S; Wth 2.4m) hints that a subsidary passage may extending N at right angles from the main passage. The second passage, which is located a short distance E of the first, is also aligned E-W. At its E end is an area of collapse (L 2m E-W) which opens into a small passage (L c. 3m E-W; Wth c. 1m) that terminates at a stone wall at its W end. There is no obvious link between the two passages but, given their proximity and alignment, it is probable that they are part of the same structure. Compiled by: Patrick F. In pasture, located on top of a steep slope which falls to W into a stream valley. Immediately to SE the ground falls away more gently to a lower terrace on the ridge. There are panoramic views of the surrounding coastal landscape, with Nephin Mountain visible in the distance to SW, Downpatrick Head to WNW, Ben Bulbin to NE and Slieve League to NNE. Circular rise (overall diam. c. 5m; H 0.4m at SW, 0.65m at NE), with a somewhat flattened top (2.35m NW–SE; 2.75m NE–SW), defined by a low scarp. The scarp is relatively pronounced at N–SE but grades more seamlessly into the surrounding ground at S–W. A few stones are visible protruding from the sod around the perimeter. The mound is grass-covered and rather dilapidated and its function is unclear.
