Situated on an E-W orientated ridge on a slight NE-facing slope. Views are excellent in all directions. Circular area (diam. 20m) enclosed by a bank of rubble limestone (Wth 1.5-4m; int. H 0.6-0.9m; ext. H 0.6m). No fosse visible. The bank encloses the site SE-NE; the external face has been rebuilt as a field wall SE-W and a field wall has been built on top of the bank W-NE. A NNW-SSE orientated drystone field wall crosses the site intersecting with the cashel bank at NE and at SE. To the E of this wall the bank is absent and the line of the bank is defined by a very slight scarped edge. Original entrance not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F. Situated on a slight N-facing slope in gently undulating pasture. Slightly raised circular area (diam. 32m) enclosed by an un-coursed rubble limestone wall (T 0.8m; H 1.5m). Situated on a slight rise in gently undulating pasture. Circular area (diam. 29m) defined by a rubble limestone wall (int. H 1.45m; ext. H 1.5m; T 2.6m). No fosse visible. The wall is made up of un-coursed limestone rubble and encloses the site E-NE. From NE-E the wall has been removed down to the footings. The internal face of the wall has been re-built E-NE to form a drystone field wall (T 0.6m; int. H 1.45m; ext. H over top of cashel wall 0.2m) but the original large basal blocks survive. The original external facing of un-coursed blocks survives E-NE. An E-W orientated field wall links to the external face of the cashel wall at WNW and a NW-SE orientated field wall abut the external side of the wall footings NE-ENE. Original entrance not recognisable. The remains of a souterrain (SL005-065002-) are located in the centre of the interior. Compiled by: Patrick F. In gently undulating terrain. Not marked on the 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Recorded in 1991 as a circular structure (dims. 3m x 2.8m) built of mortared stone (SMR (1989) file). It was built into the slope of a naturally-occurring rise(H at bottom of slope 2m; H at top of slope 0.7m) there was a circular opening (diam. 1.5m) on top and an opening (Wth. 0.7m; H 0.9m) in the N face which gave access to the central opening (SMR (1989) file). The site is now located at NNW edge of a c.10 year old coniferous plantation and is inaccessible. Compiled by: Patrick F. In pasture, located on a slight N–facing slope, at the interface between gently rising dry ground to SE and a flat expanse of rush-grown damp ground which extends to NW. A very low, barely discernible subcircular grass-covered rise (11-12m E–W; c. 12m N–S; H 0.3m at N) composed of black, charcoal-rich soil and angular stone fragments. The mound appears to have been partly levelled in the past; the N arc can be clearly traced, as it is enhanced by a slight natural fall of ground, but at SE–S the mound grades seamlessly into the surrounding ground, and its exact limits are uncertain. A fulacht fia (SL005-197----) and a possible burnt mound (SL005-198----) are located 120m and 140m to SW, respectively. There is a church (SL005-061001-) and graveyard (SL005-061002-) 50m upslope to SSE. Located on the S margins of an expanse of damp, rush-grown boggy pasture, on the W bank of a small, shallow N-flowing stream. The stream rises 6m to SE of the fulacht fia, at the interface of the wet ground with gently rising drier ground. This fulacht fia is evident as a low, roughly crescent-shaped, grass-covered mound (c. 9m NW–SE; c. 4m NE–SW; H 0.3m) composed of a concentration of angular stone fragments in black, charcoal-rich soil. The mound may have been disturbed in the past, and its exact original extent is uncertain. A slight boggy depression on the E side, intervening between the mound and the stream probably marks the trough area. There is a possible burnt mound (SL005-198----) 15m to SW, and a burnt mound (SL005-196----) 120m to NE. A church (SL005-061001-) and graveyard (SL005-061002-) are located 125m to ENE. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 28 May 2019 - SL005-198: Burnt mound, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL005-198----. In pasture, located at the interface between gently elevated drier pasture to S and flat expanse of rush-grown damp ground which extends to N. A spring/small stream, beside which there is a fulacht fia (SL005-197----), rises 15m to NNE. This possible burnt mound is evident as a very low, moss- and grass-covered rise (c. 7-8m E–W; c. 5m N–S; H 0.2-0.3m, 0.4m at N), which appears to be composed of angular stone fragments in black soil. It is poorly defined, distinguished mainly by differential vegetation growth. There is a burnt mound (SL005-196----) 120m to NE. A church (SL005-061001-) and graveyard (SL005-061002-) are located 140m to NE. Notified to NMS by Leo Leydon. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
