On the NW-facing slope of a drumlin. A barely discernible circular area (diam. c. 36m) defined by a scarp (H 0.6m) except to S and SE where quarrying has encroached on the rath. The interior slopes down to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL038-095: Barrow - unclassified, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL038-095----. In pasture, just below the crest of a NE-facing slope and with a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. A roughly square mound (c. 14m NE-SW; 15.4m NW-SE; H 0.9m) with rounded corners which is well-defined on the downslope (NE) side but is low and degraded on the SW side where it is almost level with the ground surface. The S corner has been removed by quarrying as well as smaller areas at N and SE. On top of the mound, slightly SW of centre, is a small irregular secondary mound of earth and stones (4.7m NW-SE; 3.3m NE-SW; H 0.75m), possibly the result of field clearance or upcast from areas of disturbance. As it is indicated as a circular mound (diam. c. 20m) on the 1941-2 OS 6-inch map it is possible that its present shape is the result of recent modifications. Its size and location suggest a barrow. A possible circular enclosure (SL038-096----) lies c. 80m to SE and a possible rath (SL038-097----) c. 190m to SSE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL038-096: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL038-096----. In pasture, on the steep SE-facing slope of a drumlin. Indicated on the 1941-2 OS 6-inch map by an arc of hachures SE-S. An arc of earthen bank (L 10m; H 1m) is evident SE-S, possibly the SE quadrant of a circular enclosure. A possible barrow (SL038-095----) lies c. 80m to NW and a possible rath (SL038-097----) c. 100m to S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an embanked circular area (diam. c. 30m). This possible rath is not visible at ground level. A possible circular enclosure (SL038-096----) lies c. 100m to N and a ppossible barrow (SL038-095----) c. 190m to NNW. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
