- SL015-013: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL015-013----. Situated on a slight NNW-facing slope, in gently undulating wet pasture. Views are good to excellent in all directions. Slightly raised circular area (diam. 30m) enclosed by a broad bank of earth (Wth 5.55m; int. H 0.4m). At the external foot of the bank is a fosse (Wth 5.05m; D 0.2m). A NNE-SSW orientated field boundary bank of earth and stone has been built on top of the bank W-NNW. The original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F. Situated on a slight S-facing slope in gently undulating pasture. Views are good to excellent in all directions except to NE where obscured by higher ground. Slightly raised circular area (diam. 22.5m) enclosed by a broad bank of earth (Wth 7.9m; int. H 0.4m). There is no fosse visible at ground level. The bank is best preserved NE-SSE. Situated on a very slight SSW-facing slope, in gently undulating pasture. Slightly raised circular area (diam. 24m) enclosed by a broad bank of earth (Wth 3.4m; int. H 0.9m). At the external foot of the bank is a fosse (Wth 3.85m; D 0.25m). From SW-NE the fosse is absent. A NNE-SSW orientated field boundary bank lies along the circuit of the fosse SW-NW. An E-W orientated lane lies along the outer edge of the absent fosse NW-NE. The original entrance is not recognisable. There are small livestock tracks through the bank at NNE (Wth 0.75m), SE (Wth 0.85m) and at SSW (Wth 0.85m). Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 21 April 2011

Situated on level ground, 20m to N of stream, in gently undulating pasture. Raised circular area (diam. 26m) enclosed by a bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.95m; int. H 0.3m). There is no fosse visible at ground level. The bank has been revetted on the vertical exterior face on all sides with drystone rubble walling. The bank has been eroded by livestock NNE-ESE leaving the external revetting standing proud of the interior of the rath. The bank has been eroded away NNW-N. A break (Wth 2m) in the bank and a ramp to the exterior at NNE marks the position of the original entrance. There is a modern break (Wth 1.8m) in the bank with a ramp to the exterior at SW. Situated on level summit of N-S orientated ridge in coniferous forestry. Depicted as a small, irregularly-shaped feature on the 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as a hachured roughly circular enclosure (diam. c.10m) on the 1912 edition. In pasture reclaimed from boggy ground, located on a low elevation, overlooked by gently rising ground to W. To N there is gradual fall of ground into a broad boggy valley bordered on N side by Crockhauns hill and to W by Keelogyboy hill. There are tracts of forestry in adjacent properties to SE, S and SW. Roughly oval or sub-rectangular platform (c. 30m N-S; c. 42m E-W) defined by a partly levelled, broadly sloping scarp (c. 1m at N and S, c. 1.5m at W), which retains a low internal lip (Wth c. 1.5m) on the S side. Discrete remnants of an original bank may also survive beneath the roots of a lone hawthorn bush growing on top of the scarp at N. The scarp is lowest at E, and the original entrance may have been on this side. Immediately outside the scarp at NE there is a hint of an external depression, perhaps indicating the presence of a fosse, but it can not be traced elsewhere. The interior is level and grassy. The top and slopes of the scarp are marked by a dense growth of rushes. According to local tradition, the site is known locally as a 'fort'.
