In a graveyard (SL022-015002-), situated at the base of a narrow E-W valley adjacent to the N bank of a W-flowing stream. Milligan (ITA Survey 1942-4) recorded that this church is 'supposed to have been erected by St. Ainle or Fainle who lived in the 5th or 6th centuries'. The upstanding remains are of a very ruined, late medieval church (18.5m E-W; 9.5m N-S; Wall T 0.93m). Much of the stone from the church has been robbed and used to mark burials in the graveyard (sl022-015002-) within which it is located. The E wall contains a large, broken-out window opening. Only the lower portion of the W wall, which has a marked base batter but is otherwise featureless, is still extant. There is a short length of upstanding wall, containg a possible window opeining, at the E end of the S wall. Only the basal portion of the remainder of the S wall and the foundations of the N wall, punctuated by modern graves are still identifiable. A font (SL022-015003-) was removed from this church and its presnet location (SL022-014001-) is now in the modern Catholic church at Corballa in Rathglass townland. Compiled by: Patrick F. On a low rise in undulating pasture. Circular area (diam. 25m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 3.6-4m; int. H 0.4-0.6m; ext. H 1m) with external fosse (Wth 2-2.5m). The fosse is realtively well preserved at NW-N. Elsewhere it is evident only as a slight depression marked by a growth of rushes. A break in the bank at E, with evidence for a causeway (Wth 2.5m) across the fosse, marks original entrance. Within the SE quadrant is a possible hut site (SL022-017001-). Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011 - SL022-017002: Hut site, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL022-017002-. At Killanly rath (SL022-017001-). Close to the bank within the SW quadrant is a subcircular or roughly semi-circular setting of stones (diam. 3m) which may mark the remains of a hut site. In pasture, set into a SW-facing slope, on the N side of a small stream valley. Circular structure (overall diam. c. 3.5-4m) consisting of a shallow circular depression (diam. 2m), cut into the slope to a depth of c. 0.5m, and defined by remnants of a slightly raised rim incorporating a rough, gapped setting of stones. There appears to be a break or opening (Wth 0.4m) at S. Possibly the eroded foundation of a limekiln. There is a structure/another possible limekiln (SL022-025----) c. 40m to SE. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 7 April 2014 - SL022-023: Barrow - unclassified, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL022-023----. Situated on a NW-SE ridge in pasture. Not marked on any edition of the OS 6-inch map. Low, subcircular grass-covered mound (7.3m NE-SW; 6.8m NW-SE; H 0.3-0.45m). In the centre of the relatively flat top (diam. 4.6m) there is a circular hollow (diam. 1.6m; D 0.15m). Compiled by: Patrick F. On flat, damp ground, 5m N of a stream, in the base of a small valley. Slightly raised, penannular feature (5.8m NW–SE; 5m NE–SW), defined SW–SE on the perimeter by a raised rim (Wth 1.8m) with a break or opening at SW. At E–S the inner curve of the raised rim is defined by a setting of low stones. The raised rim is highest (H 0.4m) and incorporates more stones at SE, where is survives at the base of a hawthorn bush, but elsewhere is appears as a low, broadly slumped sod-covered rise. It appears to be the eroded remains of a circular structure, such as a limekiln. There is a possible limekiln (SL022-022----) built into a slope c. 40m to NW. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
