In pasture, near the base of the W-facing slope of a ridge. This rath has been levelled; it is visible as an oval enclosure in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, G 290-89) as a cropmark of a bank and external fosse with a possible entrance at SW. It is visible at ground level as a roughly circular raised area (diam. c. 26m E-W) with a scarp along the W arc (H 1.6m) and along the E arc (0.5m). The line of the bank is marked by stunted growth of grass and to N a line of rushes (Wth c. 2m) may indicate a silted-up fosse. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In rough pasture, on top of the W end of a ridge. One of two conjoined raths (SL027-151002-); an oval area (27m N-S; 17m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1m). A shallow external fosse (Wth c. 3m) is evident all round except the along E arc where a field boundary is built against the outer face of the bank. The fosse along the NE arc is shared with the conjoined rath (SL027-151002-). A field boundary respects the edge of the fosse SW-N. One of two conjoined raths (SL027-151001-); a raised circular area (int. diam. 20m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 3.2m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.6m). An external fosse (Wth 4m) is marked by a dense growth of rushes. A possible entrance (Wth 2m) is at SE. The interior is covered in rushes and the bank is grass-covered. The fosse along the SW arc is shared with the conjoined rath (SL027-151001-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). On the N side of a deep stream gully, in an area of damp pasture overlooked to SW by a high ridge. In poor condition, obscured by overgrowth and difficult to inspect. A subcircular area (32m NW-SE; c. 28m NE-SW) defined W-SE by a scarp (H 1.15m) with a slight internal rim, modified as a field boundary, and SSE-W by the steep-sided stream gully. Outside the scarp N-SE is a field drain (Wth 1.5m; D 0.45m) that continues beyond the fort at NNW. The interior is used as a dump for old cars and farm machinery. A deeply rutted farm track (Wth 2.5m) on a NNW-SSE axis crosses the interior, slightly NE of centre and there are corresponding breaks (Wth 3-4m) in the scarp at NNW and SE where the track enters and exits. H 0.4m) is low and eroded along the E and S arcs and incorporated into a field boundary system elsewhere. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). The interior slopes gently down to S, is overgrown with rushes and bisected by a low E-W field boundary wall. A field boundary skirts the fosse E-S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). In damp rushy pasture, encircled by high ground. An oval area (15.7m N-S; c. 23m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved bank (Wth 3.5-4.5m; H 0.3-0.4m) evident as a low, gapped rise marked by high grass and thistles. There is a break (Wth 5m) in the bank at SW. At N, a field drain on an E-W axis clips the bank. A band (Wth c. 2m) of rushes, probably indicating the line of an external fosse, is evident SE-NW, between the enclosure and a gentle natural rise in ground level. The enclosure is poorly preserved, engulfed in long grass and difficult to inspect. The surrounding area has recently been planted with coniferous trees but an exclusion zone (Wth 10-15m) has been left around the perimeter of the enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). On a an E-facing slope in poorly drained structure. There is a large plantation of coniferous trees fronted by a narrow length of deciduous trees at the location indicated. There is a substantial stream N-S between c. 10m and c. 20m E of this. There is a modern road between c. 15 and c. 30 to the E of the stream. There is no evidence of burnt spreads or of any other monument now visible. However a number of drains, some quite deep, were excavated and others cleared of debris, both within and in proximity to the plantation. It is possible that burnt spreads were identified during the excavation of these drains but have since been washed away. Compiled by: Patrick F. H 1.1m) with numerous gaps. A band of rushes (Wth 1m) along the N arc may indicate the line of the fosse. The interior slopes slightly to S and the S portion is raised to compensate for the hillslope. A field boundary extends to E from the rath and remnants of another extend to NE.
