On the N-facing slope of a ridge. A raised roughly circular area (int. diam. 26m N-S; 22m E-W) enclosed by two earthen banks with an intervening fosse. The substantial inner bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.8m) is evident all round with an internal stone revetment. The fosse (Wth 3m; D 0.6m) is visible as a shallow depression. A short arc of outer bank (Wth 1.8m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.4m) is evident NW-N. The interior is mostly level; the S portion (Wth 8m) is slightly raised and defined by a scarp (long axis E-W; H 0.4m) along its N edge and is in line with the entrance (Wth 2m) at E. A N-S field boundary skirts the rath along the E arc. Another rath (SL034-158----) lies c. 50m to SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL034-158: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL034-158----. On top of a ridge. A slightly raised circular area (24m N-S; 26m E-W) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank (Wth 4.7m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.4m) which is incorporated into a NE-SW field boundary along the NW arc. An internal stone revetment is visible on the bank in places. An external fosse (Wth 3.5m; D 0.7m) is evident NE-W. In the SE quadrant of the interior is a raised level area defined by a curved scarp (H 0.3m). A number of eroded gaps occur along the bank and there is a possible entrance at NE. Another rath (SL034-157----) lies c. 50m to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL034-161: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL034-161----. Near the top of a S-facing slope. A roughly circular area (25m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by the remains of two earthen banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.4m) is best preserved along the E and S arcs with remnants of an internal stone revetment. The intervening fosse (Wth 3m; D 0.3m) is evident E-W; field boundaries (on NE-SW and N-S axes) have been built on the line of the fosse along the NW and W arcs. The outer bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) is evident SW-W, probably disturbed by the construction of field boundaries to N and E. The interior slopes down to SE. A possible entrance (Wth 2m) is at E and a recent gap (Wth 3m) at W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL034-169: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL034-169----. On the NE-facing slope of a ridge. Trapezoidal area (33m NE-SW; 48m SE-NW on NE side; 20m on SW side) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 1.4m; ext. H 1m) with external stone-facing. There is a possible entrance (Wth 2m) in the SW corner. The interior slopes down to NE and is raised on the N side to compensate for the hillslope; a drain has been cut along the inner side of the bank at NE. The bank along the NE side is incorporated into a NW-SE field boundary. Recorded in 1836 as 'Lisdoogan fort' (OSNB vol. 2, 233). Raftery (1974, 84) suggested there was an outer bank. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL034-171: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL034-171----. In pasture, at the SE end of a ridge. A raised roughly circular area (28m N-S; 23m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.4m) SSE-SW where it is incorporated into a field boundary and by a scarp (H 2.2m) SW-SSE. The interior is level. In the SE quadrant a slightly angled earth and stone bank (Wth 1.6m; H 0.6m) forms an internal division and in the SW quadrant there is a small arc of earthen bank (Wth 2m; H 0.5m); both of these features are probably of recent origin. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
