Situated on the W side of a NE-SW ridge in pasture. Raised oval area (dims. 26.4m NE-SW; 22m NW-SE) enclosed by a substantial bank of earth and stone (Wth. 4.4m; H 0.1m - 0.9m). From S-W-WNW the outer face of the bank merges with a modern curving field boundary. From WNW-NW-N the defining element is a scarp. No fosse. Original entrance may have been at NE. Depicted on all editions of the OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure divided into two approx. equal portions by the Sligo - Ballina road (aligned WNW-ESE). The site was almost completely destroyed during the widening of the road. To the NNE of the existing road is a very short length of bank (L 4m; Wth. 2.5m - 3m; H 0.6m). To the SSW of the road, extending in an arc from E-S-W, are ephemeral traces of a depression (Wth. c.3m) outside of which is a low rise (Wth. c.4.7m). These may be remnants of the original perimeter. Large raised oval area (dims. 57.7m NNW-SSE; 49.5m ENE-WSW) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth. 3.7m; H 0.4m) except at S where the defining element is a scarp. At the foot of the bank and scarp is a shallow fosse (Wth. 3.4m) with an outer bank (Wth. 3.9m; H 1.3m) which is traceable from S-W-NW. Original entrance not recognisable. Situated on a pronounced rise in undulating pasture. Depicted on 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map as field boundary extending in an arc from S-N-WNW. From WNW-N-NE this meets a second, almost linear bank aligned NE-SW, which has a very slight curve at NW. For the remainder of the circuit no enclosing feature is shown. Raised subcircular area (max. dim. 52m) defined by a low, roughly constructed wall (Wth. 1.5m - 2m; int. H 0.4m) which has been incorporated into the field boundary. Situated on a gentle SE-facing slope in undulating pasture. Circular platform (diam. 10m; H 0.3m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth. 2.8m; int. H 0.5m) except at E and SE where the defining element is a low scarp (H 0.5m). Traces of a possible external fosse at NW (Wth. 1.2m). In wet pasture, located on the floor of a narrow NE-SW valley. One of several fulachtaí fia and burnt mounds which occur over a distance of c. 1.5km along the flat-bottomed valley. A sub-circular area (max. dim. c.6m) of firm ground, distinguished by short grass growth, surrounded by soft, wet rush-grown pasture. Probing revealed shattered sandstone and charcoal-rich soil. A rath (SL019-042----) is located c. 35m to ESE.
