On the 1914 OS 6-inch map the NW and N arcs are indicated as levelled with a linear field boundary joining the remainder of the cashel to the road at N. An oval area (87m N-S; 40m E-W) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (Wth 4m) N-S and by the steep natural slope of the hillock S-N. The entrance (Wth 4m) is at the S. The interior slopes gently down to E. When inspected, the hilltop enclosure had been ploughed for forestry but not planted. Included in a list of hillforts and hilltop enclosures by Condit, Gibbons and Timoney (1991, 62) who also noted that the remains of a possible outer enclosing wall, following the contour on the E side of the hill, is visible in an aerial photograph (CUCAP, APF 68) and that the area had been planted with trees. On the edge of a steep-sided natural terrace, on the E slope of Muckelty Hill. A circular area (28m N-S; 27m E-W) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.6m) along the S, W and N arcs and by an almost vertical natural scarp (H c. 6m) along the E arc. The bank is stone-faced externally in parts. The interior slopes gently down to E. The rath is covered in ferns. The interior is defined by a scarp (H 0.9m) topped by grass-covered foundations of a drystone wall (Wth 2m; H 0.2m; original Wth 1m) SW-E and by an inner-facing scarp (H 0.1m) E-SW. The interior slopes down gently to NW. There is a souterrain (SL032-177002-) in the SW quadrant.
