Outside zoned towns and villages, the county development plan's rural policies apply to each application. ## Planning applications whose site touches the townland (National Planning Applications, Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage) No planning application touches the townland of Ogham in the national file, which goes back to 2010. ## Designated sites (National Parks and Wildlife Service) - Special Area of Conservation: Flughany Bog SAC, site code 000497, https://www.npws.ie/protected-sites/sac/000497 - Proposed Natural Heritage Area: Flughany Bog, site code 000497 ## Recorded monuments (Sites and Monuments Record, National Monuments Service) - SL039-108: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL039-108----. In undulating pasture, on a low ridge. A raised circular area (int. diam. 16.9m N-S; 19.3m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.85m). The interior is uneven. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL039-109: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL039-109----. In pasture, on top of and at the E end of a narrow ridge. A raised oval area (34.7m N-S; 29m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank. The bank is substantial SW-NW and is lowest at E flanking the entrance (Wth 1.8m). Remains of stone facing is visible at the base of the bank, especially in the vicinity of the entrance. A break (Wth 1.5m) in the bank at N reveals a low external kerb of stones masked elsewhere by the slump of the external bank face. A band (Wth c. 3m) of soft damp ground outside the bank along the N arc probably indicates an infilled fosse. The interior is generally level but a slight E-facing scarp (H 0.1-0.2m) crossing the interior centrally on a N-S axis appears to indicate an internal division. A wide semicircular depression (Wth 7-8m E-W; ext. D 0.65m) immediately outside the bank at W is clearly the result of quarrying. The bank is thickly overgrown with hawthorn bushes. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL039-110: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL039-110----. In pasture, on top of a narrow ridge with excellent views. A low subcircular platform (c. 40m N-S; c. 37.5m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.3m at W; 0.5m at E) from which stones protrude randomly. Set 4.5-6.5m in from the scarp edge is a wall (Wth 0.9m; H 0.8m), covered in blackthorn bushes, enclosing an oval area (28.5m N-S; 23m E-W) on the platform. At the base of the inner face of this wall from SW-N is a low terrace (Wth 2.2m) raised 0.2-0.3m above the interior ground level. In the interior, slightly NW of centre, is an ill-defined roughly circular rise (diam. 6-7m; H 0.3m). Appended to the ESE arc of the enclosure is a diamond-shaped area (40m NW-SE; 38m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (H 1.5-1.7m) with remnants of stone facing. The enclosed space encompasses the SE end of the ridge. The W half is level but it slopes gently down from the centre to ESE following the ridge slope. According to local tradition, this enclosure is known as 'Castle Ida'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
