- SL035-024: Field system, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL035-024----. In undulating wet pasture, immediately N of Geevagh village. Traces of a relict field system, underlying the modern field system, are spread over a rectangular area c. 300m x c. 250m which is characterised by rock outcrops and bushes. In the NW quadrant is a roughly pentagonal field (c. 50m N-S; 55m E-W) defined on its W side by an earth and stone field boundary and elsewhere by a disused sod-covered limestone rubble wall (H 0.7-1.2m). Adjoining the NE side of this field is a roughly rectangular field (20m N-S; 20m E-W) defined by an earth and stone bank (H 0.3-0.6m). Two linear earth and stone banks (L c. 50m; H 0.5m) lie c. 150m to SSE. Traces of other field boundaries, visible in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, G 273-2), are not visible at ground level. Not listed in either the SMR (1989) or RMP (1995). In rough pasture, on a steep N-facing slope overlooking a river 30m to N. A roughly circular roofless structure (diam. 1.2m) with a sunken interior (max. D 0.85m) lined with roughly coursed unmortared rubble limestone. The floor is level and strewn with rubble limestone. The entrance (Wth 1m) is on the N side and consists of two parallel earth and stone banks (H 0.4m; L 1m). At external ground level, the rim of the interior is defined by an earth and stone bank (ext. In pasture on the outskirts of Geevagh village, located in an area of lowlying, damp rush-grown pasture, overlooked to NE by a high ridge. This possible enclosure is not shown on any edition of the OS 6-inch maps. It is evident in aerial imagery. It is evident at ground level as a slightly raised subcircular flat-topped area or platform (21m E−W; 24m N−S) defined by a slight scarp (H 0.3-0.4m). The scarp has a hint of a raised internal rim at NW and E. There are poorly defined low areas or gaps in the scarp at W E and NE. A slight depression (Wth 1.6m) can be traced outside the scarp on the W arc. The remains are very low profile. The nature of this possible enclosure is uncertain: According to local information, it was created in the mid 1990’s when earth was spread here to level up a hollow. Detached two-bay two-storey rendered house, built c. 1910. L-plan, two-storey canted bay window to east gable-end, single-storey lean-to entrance porch in angle of L c. 1950, single-storey lean-to extension to south elevation c. 1950. Hipped slate roof, clay ridge and hip tiles, lead hip cappings to bay, painted smooth-rendered corbelled chimneystack, profiled extruded aluminium gutters on painted timber fascia, projecting painted timber bargeboards to east gable. Painted smooth-rendered ruled-and-lined walling, projecting plinth, string course at first floor. Square-headed window openings, painted stone sills, painted one-over-one timber sash windows. Square-headed door opening, plain-glazed overlight, painted vertically-sheeted timber door c. 1995. Set back from road in grounds, yard to south, rubble stone boundary walls, decorative cast-iron pedestrian gate to east, quadrant gatescreen with wrought-iron flat-bar gate to south-east. St Joseph's Catholic church across road to east.
