Circular raised area (int. diam. 20m). There is no longer any indication of a bank. The ocurrence of some stone around the edge of the site could indicate it was enclosed by a stone wall. No indication of an entrance. There are a number of sea-shells scattered on the interior surface. Most of the structure has been removed leaving only the E gable (int. W 5.40m, H c.4m) which is constructed of mortared limestone blocks and flags. This has a light from which the carved stones have been removed and to the right of this on the interior side of the wall is a niche (OS Letters, 63-4, 140, OS Name Books, 93, Wood-Martin 1882, 8, O'Rorke 1890, 437). The name 'Teampull na gcailleachh dubh (Church of the black nuns) suggests that this may have been a medieval nunnery.
