In flat wet rough grazing. Indicated as an embanked circular area (diam. c. 40m) on the 1838 OS 6-inch map and as a roughly circular raised area on the 1913 OS 6-inch map. A large steep-sided subcircular mound or natural knoll (c. 50m NW-SE; c. 45-50m; H 4-5m) with a flat oval top (c. 20m NW-SE; c. 10m NE-SW) is now evident. However, extensive quarrying of the NW-SE slopes of the knoll has obliterated its original form. On the W side the knoll has a terraced profile. From the level top there is a gentle slope (H 1.3m) that levels out to a terrace (Wth 3.7m) defined at outer edge by a scarp (H 1m). Stones protrude from the scarp in parts. The scarp drops to another gently sloping terrace (Wth 3.4m) from which there is a fall of 1.75m to the base of the knoll. The base of the knoll is scarped to a vertical face (H 0.9m) but this appears to be a relatively recent feature. To S there is a shallow depression (Wth 2.7m) at the base of the knoll, defined on its outer edge by a slight rise in ground level. It may represent a fosse or a drain but cannot be traced elsewhere. A hut site (SL021-117----) is located on a low elevation c. 30m to W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL021-117: Hut site, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL021-117----. In low-lying rough wet pasture, at the base of a rise. The remains of an oval hut (int. diam. 4.6m N-S; 3.5m E-W) with earth and stone walls (Wth c. 1.2m; H 0.55m). There is a possible rath (SL021-048----) c. 30m to E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 - SL026-035: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CSL026-035----. Crowning the N end of an elongated oval hillock bordered to S and W by a flat expanse of boggy ground. A roughly oval level area (14m E-W; c. 19m N-S) defined SW-E by a low scarp (H 0.5m), cut into the natural break of slope, and elsewhere by a slight stony rise. Outside the N half of the enclosure, the hillslope is steep (H 4-5m at W and E, c. 3m at N) but at S is more gradual. The N slope of the hill appears gently terraced and the base of the slope NW-N is scarped (H 1m). A low bank (Wth 2m; H 0.5m), 2.6m to N of the scarp, curves NNW-N around the base of the hill and is possibly the remains of an outer enclosing element. There are field boundaries immediately to N, E and S. Another enclosure (SL026-034----) lies c. 50m to W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008 Works at or in relation to a recorded monument need two months' written notice to the National Monuments Service (National Monuments (Amendment) Act 1994, section 12). ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage) - House, 1820–1860, Regional interest, registry number 32402625, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=SL®no=32402625.
