Situated on the summit of Ballincurra Hill, enclosed by hillfort (TN027-140001); panoramic views in all directions. Knockadiggen is visible to the NE. A circular cairn of limestone (diam. 18.3m N-S; H 1.77-2.15m), overgrown with heather. The interior is hollowed out (Wth 5.7-5.9m; D 1m), probably the result of robbing for adjacent stone walls. A stone wall (T c.1.6m x H 0.6m) abuts the cairn at SE and a denuded stone wall extends along the side of the cairn at NE. Forestry encroaches onto the edge of the cairn at S and NW, however a corridor has been left open through the forest giving a vista to SW. H 1m) and wide flat-bottomed outer fosse (Wth 1.6-3m; D 1.53m) which is best visible upslope to N, E and W but disappears towards S. The bank is reduced to a scarp along the S edge of the site, and is quite denuded in the W sector with no external fosse. No definite entrance visible. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
